Watched a half tidy footballing display from Ivybridge against an out of sorts Camelford side.

The only thing to let Ivybridge down was the manner in which there CF scored the 4th goal. To round the GK and then get on his hands and knees and nod the ball in with his head showed a complete lack of class and disrespect to Camelford. Would be embarrassed to play in same team as a player doing that.

Good luck to Ivybridge in the next round.

Would be more embarrassed as the goalie or defender in a team that allowed a CF the time to do that in a game at this level!

As a contest the match was all over by half-time with Saltash 6-0 up.Phillips opened the scoring on 4 minutes and after just 12 minutes it was 3-0 with further goals from Hughes and Maddison. Two more goals before half-time from Lewis and a superb free-kick from Wilson. The big down side for the Ashes in the first half was that two players were taken to Derriford Hospital,Lee Phillips with a leg injury and Lewis Russell with an ankle injury.

The second half was very much the same as the first with the Ashes dominating play but it was Bere Alston who drew first blood when a mistake by Sam Leary let in the home side to make it 6-1.Just 10 minutes into the half and the Ashes were back to a 6 goal cushion when Hughes headed home to complete his hat-trick.Into the last 10 minutes and Hughes was fouled in the penalty area and Barker scored from the penalty spot to make it 8-1.

We can remember the Camelford keeper sitting at the base of his goalpost in a particularly one sided match some years ago, ( at the old ground ) no club is that squeaky clean where taking the mick is concerned, on or off the field.

I wasn’t looking to single out Ivybridge but was just disgusted by the lack of disrespect shown by the player. It’s irrelevant if the GK or Defender couldn’t get bk in time, the fact the player thought to do it shows his lack of class and probably the reason why he has a different club every season.

The player hasn’t got a nasty bone in his body and would certainly not do that to upset any opponent but because he just enjoys every single moment about scoring goals.... He’s not had the best season and was just obviously overwhelmed by the moment And scoring a couple of goals. I wonder if the tables were turned if something similar could’ve happened ?????

Of course it could have, So just take the Defeat on the nose and get on with it.

As for being embarrassed, that’s a joke..... You mean you’ve never played in a team where that has happened? I think most players could say they have seen that before. Would you be embarrassed to play in a team with somebody elbows and opponent in the face?

exactly..... You can’t have it all ways

Is there much difference than showboating? If a player takes on another by nutmegging him or using a skill or trick when he could just knock it around him and run on to it is this bad? I have seen this actually happen in a game and the defender nearly got back and nearly kicked the forward in the head causing a melee. Maybe if the camelford defenders put a bit more effort in the striker maynot have had much time

Can't believe some of the above comments. I seen it happen at kids level but not at Peninsula level. I am not connected to either Ivybridge or Camelford so the result was irrelevant for me, just was really shocked at the actions I witnessed and don't feel for any second it was right and nothing other than disrespectful as said earlier.

I support Camelford And can’t see any problem with it. The lad obviously enjoys his football and was just adding his own flamboyant touch after rounding the keeper. The fact that the Camels back four at the time included the 50 year old assistant manager, his 16 year old son and a 35 yr old who hasn’t played for 4 yrs probably explains why they couldn’t get back in time!
