2019/20 restructure

Recommended Posts

just a reminder for anyone interested.

On Wednesday 31st October at 7pm Cornwall FA will be hosting an open forum for clubs, leagues and any interested parties in relation to the Southwest League Re-structure in 2018-19  (for season 2019/20)

It will be an opportunity for clubs to meet members of the new committee who will be sitting on the new Step 7 League as well as gain insight and information on funding opportunities for clubs who may wish to apply to, not only the new league, but also The Peninsula League at Step 6. In addition we will look to answer any questions people may have about the proposed new set-up and the effect it may have on football in Cornwall.

If you wish to attend please email or call Richard Pallot richard.pallot@cornwallfa.com 01208 262983

Very strange..... was looking forward to finding out what  the future may hold

It’s Halloween dammit, just choose between a crystal ball or a set of Tarot cards??

Meeting cancelled due to a lack of interest !

This must be the biggest change in the local game for years, its a bit bizarre that nobody seems to care.

Like I said it’s Halloween, more conflict of interest than lack of interest methinks!

New leagues restructuring meeting - did your club know?

Presumably all clubs have seen that the proposed County FA meeting due to be held on Wednesday has been postponed.

This meeting was to take the form of an open forum for all clubs, leagues and possible future participants to find out and discuss the proposed new new leagues at Step 6 and Step 7.

The County FA have made the decision to postpone due to what they say as a “....lack of people registering an interest in attending.”

Which seems strange as they have also confirmed “...with several clubs having already applied to the new structure things are moving forward positively.”

I’ve just been speaking to one club official who reckons their club didn’t have any direct communication from the County regarding Wednesday’s meeting.

Is this the case for other clubs?

If not, can you advise on here how you were made aware of it please. (If you’re not a registered member of the forum and not able to write on here, just text me to let me know - 07759 502408).

Thanks

Hi Dave,

I have sent two emails out to our Club Secretaries, put it on our Facebook and also put it on our Full Time site so the Trelawny clubs were well aware.

For many of our clubs, it will not really affect them - unless they have teams in Combo/SWPL or they had an interest in joining the step 7 League - I'm aware of only two clubs that were going to apply.

The downfall was the fact that it was being held on Halloween (in my personal opinion) - I weren't going because my daughter wanted me to take her out trick or treating - I can't say no to that.

Dave, are the two clubs you mention Trelawny clubs? Seems odd they would apply for a step 7 league bypassing combo. Must think they are pretty good.

They are indeed. A division. 4 team could have applied if they wanted too.

For one team in particular, it would be quite an impressive jump for them if accepted.

I'm still very much in the dark about the structure for next season.

I’m going to take a guess Mousehole Res

If clubs want to make the jump from lower down the Trelawny League system good luck to them but even with the restructuring their will be a helluva lot of more longer distance travelling, less local derbies and maybe a danger of losing games by a considerable margin. players will then get fed up because they are not winning games so move on to another team leaving the club in turmoil as it’s never in  dribs and drabs they go but seems to be some sort of suicide pact between players of a one out all out mentality these days......selling this well aren’t I maybe the CCFA might want to employ me as the chief cheerleader............I honestly can’t see what used to be wrong with the old system of FHFL / Mining to Combo to SWL........showing my age through these rose tinted specs ???

This is the advice/reminder given in SWPL Newsletter.

Reminder: FA Re-structure: What do you need to do as a club:

Every club, irrespective of which league you are currently a member of, must if you wish to be considered for membership of the new Step six or Step seven leagues, submit a written expression of interest (along with your current ground grading classification if known) by email to Laurence Jones, Head of National League System, NLS@thefa.com by 31st December 2018. This is a requirement for all clubs even if you are already playing in a step six or step seven league.

Remember a club applying for Step 6 may ALSO apply to put the reserves into Step 7. Any club applying for Step 6 and failing to be accepted, for whatever reason, will still be considered for Step 7.

Date for meeting ground grading and/or providing planning permissions for dispensation is March 31st 2019 (3 months after application date). Clubs given dispensation by the FA to complete work such as lights of which planning has been granted, will be March 31st 2021.

Why not? That’s one of the major problems with this subject, not enough has been put out there and so there are still many people who don’t know what’s proposed to happen come the end of the season!

Dave, I think the proposed structure for next season has been fully explained; what happens next depends upon the Clubs, their ambition and their ability to sustain playing at a particular level. All decisions on which applicant Clubs are successful will be made by the National Leagues Committee - hopefully with some local consultation.
