Why does it take the Ashes 15 minutes to get into a game most weeks? This happened again against Falmouth and in that time the home side were given a footballing lesson. Two very sloppy give away goals in the first 7 minutes and it looked like the Ashes were in for a long afternoon. Both were snapped up by Jack Bowyer.

On 34 minutes the Ashes got back into the game thanks to a Sam Hughes goal. With just 5 minutes of the half left Ryan Richards put the Ashes back on level terms to send the teams in 2-2 at half-time.

The Ashes dominated a good part of the second half and it was Sam Hughes who gave Saltash the lead on 76 minutes when he latched on to a superb through ball from Dave Trott. With 7 minutes left it looked game over when Caleb Summerfield became the provider for Ryan Richards to make it 4-2 but with 1 minute left of normal time Falmouth got back into the game to reduce the score to 4-3.

The Ashes held on for the 3 points in a game that was a credit and fantastic advert for the Peninsula League.
