Penryn Athletic Res 4 - 2 Halsetown

Another hard fought win tonight for the Ryn, didn't really get going for the first half hour and was lucky to go in at half time 2-1 up. Missed a hat full of chances in the first half but in the end the hard work came off and finished 4-2 winners. Fairplay to Halsetown they never gave up and looked good going forward through out the game, think they will get points off some of the big teams in this league and Penryn wish them all the best for the season.

Goalscorers:

Matt Mcilroy x3 and Liam Dent

Redruth United Res 1-3 Four Lanes

Redruth took the lead early in the second half but Four Lanes levelled half way through and went on to win with 2 goals in the last five minutes.

Redruth had two trigger armed linesmen. Not sure if Four Lanes were offside every time but it did seem like an automatic reaction.

From what I’ve seen and heard (vs frogpool and dc) there can be no complaints from four lanes about linesmen

Division 1.

Perranporth 1, Threemilestone 2.

Cracking game to watch tonight at Ponsmere valley, both teams look good enough to be fighting for the title this season. Early on Threemilestone had the lions share of possession with Perran looking dangerous on the break. It was one of those breaks that brought the first goal, Brendan Hitchens had a lot to do when he broke through the Stones defence but he kept calm waited for the keeper to comit and the picked his spot through two or three defenders that had raced back onto the goal line. Threemilestone equalised when Joel Snape took advantage of some hesitation in the Perran defence and he nipped in to pinch the ball off the defender and run in on goal. just like the perran goal Joel took his time and waited for the keeper to go to ground before scoring with a good shot.  Half time 1-1 and both teams probably went in at half time thinking we can win this!

In a mirror image to the first half it was Perran who increased their share of the ball and created more goal scoring chances than Tms, with the Stones having the chances on the break. Threemilestone were defending well and on the occasions that Perran did get a sight of goal Ej in the Stones goal was in good form. With 15 minutes to go a break at the other end created the winning goal, after a bit of ping pong in the box the ball was cleared to the edge of the box where Callum Sidwell fired in a cracking shot which gave the home keeper no chance.

With 15 still to go Perran pushed on looking for the equaliser.  Going a bit more direct Perran lanched more balls into the box and the stones centre halves were well tested, but they coped very well and Threemilestone held out for the victory.  There were a few moans about the ref, but i thought he had a decent game, aided by two teams who just got on with it.

My man of the match for the Stones goes to Liam Martyn who did a great job sitting in front of the back four but there were several others who had excellent games.

Att about 25-30. tea £1.

First loss for Perran. Were they struggling, or TMS on it?

I'd say TMS on it?

Rosudgeon Reserves 4-1 Holman Sports Club Reserves

A brilliant second half display from the home side coming from a goal down to gain their third win on the bounce against a tough opposition.

The first half saw very few clear cut chances with many ambitious long range shots and dangerous long balls into the box by Holmans. A great save from Rosudgeon Keeper James Williamson towards the back end of the half kept the scores level but both defences stood firm going into the break.

Three changes at half time from the away side opened up the game. After an end to end battle Holmans gained possession out on the left wing and delivered a great cross to the back post where the striker was waiting to head home and open the scoring.

The spark for the Rosudgeon comeback was lit by Chris Neal after a few attempts to get in behind the defence were cleared by holmans the attacking midfielder collected the ball and curled a beautiful long range effort over the keeper, getting his first goal of the 2018-2019 season in spectacular fashion.

The momentum was shifting in Rosudgeons favour and manager Phil Tanser made his first subs introducing Daniel Hopkins and Sam Wyatt on the wings. And the latter had an instant impact as the ball dropped to Wyatt from long range and he sent a lobbed effort towards goal, completing catching the keeper off guard and completing the quick turnaround from the home side.

It was Rosudgeon’s game to lose from that point on as they continued to turn the screw in search of a third goal. Further subs Shane Holland and Michael Watts were introduced to the match and the managers decisions paid off yet again when Shane Holland took advantage of mistakes in the Holmans back four and calmly slotted the ball to the left of the keeper.

Matt Jones was the final sub to be introduced the game as Rosudgeon took full control of the game in the oppositions half of the pitch. After earning a corner out on the right, Jevon Pryce delivered a perfect corner into the six yard box onto the head of Michael Watts to make it 4-1 and round off the scoring for the evening.

It could’ve been more for the home side with Daniel Hopkins and Michael Watts going close towards the end, but a fantastic result for the Reserve team taking it to 3 wins from 3 after losing the opening fixture. A trip to Wendron is next on the agenda this coming Saturday as they look to prolong this winning run.

Probus 0-2 Goonhavern

Probus weren't at the races, credit to Goonhavern who deserved the win on the night.

Probus created enough chances in the 2nd half to win the game, but poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept us out. I believe the manager for Goonhavern gave his goalie M.O.M which backs up his second half display.

With TMS, Probus and Perran all on 1 loss after tonight's games it continues to stay tight at the top but it's early days.

Perranwell Res 3-1 St Erme

Well done to Perranwell on the night who were the better side, St Erme never got going really and this was their worst performance for quite a while.

The game was over at half time with the hosts 3-0 up - however St Erme were aggrieved not to have got at least one maybe two penalties in the 1st half as the ref missed an obvious handball from a corner which the Perranwell defender admitted to it being a pen all day long, however it wasn't to be and St Erme just weren't at it.

St Erme improved after the break with Spencer Sanford scoring after a mix up at the back but Perranwell held out to secure the points, all is not lost for St Erme who will need to bounce back quickly, its a long old season and I can see it getting tight in Div 3 with some decent sides in there.

Great to see Matt Mcilroy back scoring goals after his horrific ankle & leg break. Some said he'd never play the game again.
