mockey jackson
The two premier games really could see who's shaping up for serious title challengers to tavistock. Still can't rule out bodmin and st austell have had a great start hitting early form, very interesting
Bobjfh
Bodmin pre season were not great, Falmouth against St Austell were surprisingly poor, as were St Austell against Helston (even in winning) - but Saltash have been constant - so tomorrow’s games will be very interesting - to see who is shaping up now the season is properly underway, as all four imo can give Tavvy a very good run for their money (they drew with Godolphin and were nothing that special when they beat Sticker). Paul
Poor result for Bodmin in a very weak league this year. ? Still, that wage bill and a 5v1 defeat will be mind blowing tonight. ?

We Two
Wow! the mighty Bodmin hammered by a team full of players from the lowly fish and chip league. Sometimes looking down your nose at the so called lower leagues and consequently the players in it, comes back to bite you with a vengance. Couldn't agree more, just highlighting the negative opinions made previously on this forum, certainly not an opinion we have or a description we have used of that league, or the players in it. Think it may have been a Bodmin supporter who introduced a comment calling the west division as a fish and chip league. ? ?

Interesting given Bodmin's recent recruitment policy has focused on pinching talent from that same fish and chip league. Indeed, their only goalscorer last night was at a fish and chip league club for his preseason.
scousemouse
Wednesday 22 August 2018 v AFC St Austell (home) SWPL(Premier Division) Saltash United line-up:Ryan Rickard,Dave Barker,Callum Martindale,Lewis Russell,Callum O'Brien,Dave Trott, Richard Maddison(Sam Farrant 70 mins),Henry Wilson,Sam Hughes,Ryan Richards(c),Danny Lewis. Unused subs:Caleb Summerfield & Josh Tapp Bookings:Russell,Trott & Maddison. Result:Saltash United 2 AFC St Austell 2 Scorers:Trott(pen 45 mins),Richards(60 mins). Attendance:135 Referee:Alan Bassett. It is often said that it is a games of two halves and this was one of them.Within 39 minutes St Austell were 2-0 up through a Chris Reski deflected shot on 17 minutes and from Liam Eddy on 39 minutes. It could have been more as they dominated the first 45 minutes.Saltash did have chances in the first half but didn't test Ethan Elwell in the St Austell goal.On the stroke of half-time the Ashes were given a lifeline when Sam Hughes was pulled down in the area for a penalty which Dave Trott scored from. The second half belonged to Saltash as they dominated play but they had to wait until the hour mark when Ryan Richards scored from a move that was started by Danny Lewis who by this time was playing in midfield and not the back three. The Ashes had several good chances to take the three points but could not find the final touch in front of goal. At the other end St Austell were always a threat on the break with both Liam Eddy and Mark Goldsworthy testing the Ashes with their pace but as with Elwell in the St Austell goal first half Ryan Rickard in the Ashes goal was not severely tested in the second half. There was two men from Sheffield at the game and from a neutral point of view they said the game had everything you could wish for, very entertaining.
