LWC Drinks Combination League AGM Report

Recommended Posts

Report from the 60th Cornwall Combination League AGM.

League sponsors LWC Drinks Ltd were thanked for their continued support of the League for the coming season.

As confirmed, Goonhavern Athletic and Holman SC are relegated, with Wendron United Reserves and Lizard Argyle promoted, to and from the Trelawny League.

Champions, Perranporth, Runners-up, Falmouth Town Reserves.

League Cup winners, St Day who also went on to win the Evely Cup against Lakeside Athletic of the ECPL.

Supplementary Cup winners were Carharrack.

Clubs hosting the cup semi-finals and finals were thanked for allowing the League to use their facilities.

In general all the the clubs were thanked for helping complete the league and cup seasons. During the season 99 games were postponed on the day, there were 3 abandoned matches plus numerous others having to be re-fixtured due to the knock-on effect of the SWPL and CCFA re-fixturing league and cup games.

A discussion was held concerning the restructuring of the local leagues for the start of the 2019-20 seasons and a new appeals process being introduced by the FA.

It was also agreed that all clubs must bring their facilities up to the minimum level needed to join the League. It was deemed unfair that new clubs wishing to join had to complete a list of regulations such as having dug-outs to seat 8 persons, roping off their grounds, certain size changing rooms, etc, etc, whilst clubs who joined the League years ago did not or have not had to comply. It was felt that all clubs should bring their grounds and facilities up to the new rules but they will have time to do it as some of the changes might and could be time consuming and costly.

The League are going to pay for two courses before the new season starts, one a First Aid course, the other to train Assistant Referees. Each club are invited to send a representative to each course as clubs MUST have a qualified first-aider present at each game, plus having a qualified referee running the line is also a league rule.

Awards presented were as follows:
Golden Boot Award for individual player: Luke Wort (Perranporth)

Top Scoring Side (other than League Champions): Carharrack

Sporting Club Award (as marked by the other clubs after each game): Goonhavern Athletic

Respect Award (fewest Red and Yellow Cards as marked by the CCFA); St Agnes

Highest marked Referee (as by clubs after each game): Mark Philpott

Clubs Assistant Referee (as mark by opponents are every match): Martin Eddy (Redruth United)

It was agreed that the new season will start on Saturday 11th August

I will be running "drop-in" sessions for Trelawny League clubs during July. If you would like your Combination clubs/officers to attend, you are more than welcome.

I have created a step by step for our clubs to carry out data cleansing and detaching of players. I have also created an illustrated step by step for registering a player. If you'd like to send these to your clubs, drop me an email (tlregsec@outlook.com). All the steps are exactly the same for different leagues.

Does it have to be a qualified referee or a qualified assistant referee (linesman)?
