Foxhole 9 St Austell 1

Saturday 15th December 2007

This emphatic victory was marred by a second minute injury to Nicholls, who received a boot in the face from Dan Ball and was clearly distressed as he was being helped from the field. The incident galvanised the Foxes although, despite quickly taking control, they didn't open the scoring until Rowe crashed home a loose ball from close range on 20 minutes.

A flowing move saw Lambert clear a Friendship effort off the line before Hill's wayward free-kick was cleverly headed in by Rowe for his second on 35, while both Hill and Giles went close as the visitors' defensive shortcomings were constantly exposed. Joining Ball in the book were Fletcher and Hooper, each for dissent, as St Austell's frustrations grew, threatening only sporadically to launch an attack.

After the break, they completely fell apart and only some uncomposed finishing avoided complete obliteration. Bromley celebrated his return with a 25-yard drive on 54, Hill's jinking run and unselfish cross was nodded home by Rowe to complete his hat-trick on 63, and Hill soon notched a deserved goal after another fine run.

With St Austell's defence at sixes and sevens, Foxhole duly added a sixth and a seventh through another Bromley rasper and a long range lob by Giles with 20 minutes still remaining. On 78, Bromley flicked on Warne's corner for Grose to head in at the far post before Martins capitalised on uncertainty in the home defence to notch a consolation at the second attempt on 87.

Substitute Bullock's brief appearance was entertainingly incident packed, as he squandered two good chances and was cautioned for a foul before completing the rout on 89, robbing Raven to roll the ball into the empty net.
