Dave Bartlam Posted March 20, 2018 Report Posted March 20, 2018 Another sad day for Local football as a lack of players claims the fourth club of the season! It is with regret that I have to announce that Trispen Football Club have withdrawn from Trelawny League Division 1 with immediate effect due to a lack of players. As a result of the withdrawal, all previous results involving Trispen have been expunged. Division 1 will now be made up of 11 teams. As a result of this withdrawal, in line with Trelawny League Rule 12b(ii) and due to previous withdrawals from Division One this season by Mabe and Marazion, no teams will be relegated from the division at the end of the season. We thank Trispen for all their hard work and we genuinelly hope to see them back with the League soon.

In what sense? When a team is withdrawn, all points gained by Trispen and their opponents are removed - the league table shows pretty much as if Trispen never existed in the division.
hansome dan Posted March 20, 2018 Report Posted March 20, 2018 Blimey division 1 teams would have been better play cup games and not bothering with the league?
RAPPO Posted March 20, 2018 Report Posted March 20, 2018 Remember Trispen winning the mining league treble and Falmouth Helston league double. Real sad sign of the times to see big junior clubs clubs like Chacewater, Trispen and Marazion all go down the pan. Some great people involved with all those clubs. The modern era unfortunately ?⚽️
Fanfare Posted March 21, 2018 Report Posted March 21, 2018 It's a shame they just gave up without appealing for players. I only watched them on Saturday!
Green Matador Posted March 21, 2018 Report Posted March 21, 2018 A lot of clubs are short of players and many struggle each week. There aren't enough players to go round and with the added pressures of sponsorship, finances etc its a hard graft running a football club. Sorry to hear about Trispen.
Laity_Boy Posted March 22, 2018 Report Posted March 22, 2018 If there’s any Camborne/Redruth teams in need of a player to help see out the season, I may be able to come out of semi-retirement for a game or two. Would a loan system similar to the cricket leagues help to keep clubs going?
Dave Bartlam Posted March 22, 2018 Author Report Posted March 22, 2018 Scott, try Lanner or Illogan, they’ve been openly advertising for players on Facebook.
GEACH1 Posted March 22, 2018 Report Posted March 22, 2018 Maybe clubs folding is a good thing, with less clubs shouldn’t the standard increase? Be harder to get into teams and maybe we will see less of these double figure score lines, just a thought
Dave Bartlam Posted March 22, 2018 Author Report Posted March 22, 2018 With it being harder to get into teams, you may also see a drop in participation
cornishteddyboy Posted March 22, 2018 Report Posted March 22, 2018 With postponements week after week, a lot of players have got into an easier habit of doing something else on a Saturday afternoon. They realise they have mates outside of football. It will take a while to get players and spectators to turn up at football grounds every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.

That won’t be the reason
gaffer Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 Im convinced a main reason of lack of interest is the expense now involved. Costs clubs a small fortune to run these days with this passed on to players via subs money. Maybe its time for leagues, councils and the ccfa to help by reducing some costs involved.

CCFA or any other County Associations will chip in with assistance only if it is a new team. Yes it is very expensive to run a team, plus the administration side of running a team. Players insurance public liability, pitch fees buying a new kit refs fees, county registrations etc etc. Clubs are folding just as fast as shops are closing down. Unfortunately the fun has gone in running and playing football
