SpongeBobSafeHands
St Day 2-1 Newquay goals from Lee Duffield, Adrian (former swl and now combo goal machine) Hart. Newquay goal was a penalty but not sure who took it. newquays' 8 game unbeaten run ended by us, good game with chances at both ends but i feel the better side won it on the day. Lee hazeldine
st agnes 0- Holmans 2 Out battled and out finished by a good holmans side. Medlin give me the run around in midfield, and the Holmans goal keeper was outstanding, Aggie missed a penalty and several good chances. A 30 yard shin, broke the deadlock in the first half looping over the stranded Dexter. A steve Kellow 25 yrd screamer had him turning away and celebrating only for the outstanding keeper to somehow tip it over with his left hand. Straight after the break a well worked move led to a well finish headed goal. Two more more point blank saves kept Holmans a well deserved clean sheet, the game ended with Holmans missing a pen of their own, an excellent hard fought game refereed by the best ref in the league who appreciated a hard tackle and played good advantages, never thought I would praise a ref! Good luck to Holmans for the rest of the season!

Gee
Illogan 1 - 0 Porthleven Some good football by both sides at time and not much in it. Think we edged the game and quick thinking found port slighly asleep for the goal from a quick throw in and good finish by Simon Ellis. Another clean sheet from us keeping our great defensive record in tact. Young lad on the left for Port looked a great player will be surprised if hes not called up into Ports 1st team at some stage. cornishteddyboy
Wendron CC United Reserves 2-1 Penzance Reserves This was a bottom of the table clash but good luck to Wendron on your first win of the season. For what it's worth 13mins 1-0 Wendron work the ball down their right. Player comes in and puts an acute angled volley into the net from 15yds out. 35mins 1-1 Pz work the ball through the middle. Danny Micheal bursts through and scores with crossed shot fooling the keeper 39mins Pz get a penalty for a foul. Liam Bennets puts ball along ground wide of post H-T 52mins 2-1 Wendron break down their right. Cross then a volley into net. Thats about it. Very even for long periods. Wendron rarely threatened. 2nd half they had one attack and scored. Pz shooting from long range which their keeper had ages to spot and get behind the ball. 2nd half Pz must of had at least 12 shots from 25yds out. Wouldn't or couldn't get closer to goal. Pz should have won but that's footy and makes the table interesting. http://www.comboleaguearchive.110mb.com/2007-08TABLE.htm Corner count 1st half Wendron 0-4 Pz 2nd half Wendron 0-1 Pz. Shows how toothless Wendron were (as were Pz at times) Counted 11 hardy souls watching around the ground with 4 girls watching from their new changing rooms, so a head count of 15 with 3 from Pz. Weeman
St Just 4-0 Hayle res Have to disagree with craztcoot on his report, we missed a penalty, hit the bar, and there keeper made 3 great saves, one from a free kick, the best team on the day won, but the score flattered them a bit, we played some good football at times, but made bad mistakes for first two goals, and were chasing the game from then on, its first season in combo, for most of our team and it shows, but the effort was there and with a bit of luck the score would have been closer. Well done to St Just and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Neil Curnow
hi weeman, your guys did play very well and put in great efforts all over the pitch, dont think it showed it was your first season mate as you competed very well, just thought as i said in the last post, the better side won on the day! i know you missed a pen and couple of chances but we did dominate the game and as for the chances count, shane richards missed three hisself, hoggy had one disallowed and two headers from corners glanced just wide of the post! merry xmas to you too aswell alex. see you soon
dirty thirty tadge
gonna have to disagree with the report of the Penzance vs Wendron game. our 1st goal lobbed damo in your goal form 6yards by our stand in skipper-who had another solid game. Penzance scored by shooting from a tight angle and the ball went straight through our keeper. our keeper then committed a foul but redeemed himself by SAVING the penalty, rather than it being put wide. the 2nd half was scrappy and evenly contested except the last 10mins when penzance were on top & cam e close a couple of times. Wendron defended well & wore their hearts on their sleeves. we had our regular Captain sat on the bench, sat next to our vice captain. Tricky trip to Town next week.
