Guest omerta Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 mousehole have been reinstated into the 1/4s at the expense of falmouth town due to an administrative error. falmouth took full advantage of their combination teams postponement last saturday by following helstons lead in the previous round by using what they thought were the allowed 4 senior players- an oversight by us did not take into account that two players who were reinstated by us on the 25th aug due to there sporadic use last season at combo should have counted towards this total. we believed these two players who have been ever present at junior level playing 15 and 11games respectively without any senior appearances had reverted back to junior status as per league rules however county rules do state that only 4 reinstated players either in the current or previous season may only be used a very costly error it was not a deliberate act but we except rules were broken. motto of the story-always check the handbook and dont presume. as a player its hurt me as much as the other squad members but as the manager i accept the ultimate responsibility and have therefore decided to tender my resignation and stand down as manager only after saturdays game with penryn. those are the facts before rumour abounds. there were many supporters inc committee members at the game of whom no one was aware a breach of rules was taking place/ i would just like to wish mousehole the very best of luck for the remainder of the competition
AJW Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Sorry to see this happen. We (Grampound) lost to 3-2 at Falmouth Town in the previous round and although we lost to a side who completely outplayed us in the first half when we were terrible (that tiny pitch at Dracaena didn't help) we gave them a very uncomfortable second half. They were a very tough but very sporting opponent - and you always want those who beat you to go all the way.
Guest omerta Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 i apprec8 your kind comments AJW i would like to say it makes me feel better but it dont! as a manager it was my call i just felt that after the seagulls had done us at home in the league just 3weeks ago with several key players missing we would be foolish to ignore utilising players within our club unused at senior cup level and without a game. i leave the club in good stead on taking over three years ago we were languishing in div3 now after two consecutive promotions and 3 trophies we sit top6 in div1(the highest position in the clubs junior history) and are still in both the lockhart and percys i just feel the time is right for someone to take on a very talented squad and push to the next level
Guest Postie Pidge Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Penty I would hope you have a change of heart but if that is your final decision, I would like to thank you for the hard work and effort you have put in over the years to take the team to where they are now.
Guest WHoZN3Xt Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 like it matters im 99.9% sure the winner will come from the east anyway!

chairman Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Tell me it's not my business, but I'd urge you to re-consider your decision to resign. Football needs dedicated and well liked people to keep involved and complicated unnecessary Rules are easily misunderstood by us all. I say again, take it on the chin and stick with it. Regards
Guest omerta Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 many thanks for all your support guys not only from officials within my club but from the many texts and p.ms from rival clubs. maybe my decision was a little hasty but i felt it was right to offer to stand down fortunately my letter of resignation wasnt accepted and following a very positive conversation with my chairman on thurs eve it was only left for my players to show a positive response in the local derby vPenryn yesterday and despite falling a goal behind their commitment to me was admirable as we ran out 5.1 winners. a short players meeting afterwards convinced me more harm than good would be done by my leaving the club needs stability so i am delighted to continue.once more many thanks and merry xmas to all
falmouth Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 maybe a new rule book for omerta for xmas!
Soccer Follower Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Glad you reconsidered your position Tony. Merry Christmas.
