Saltash United 2-3 Halsetown

Having the game moved to the Saltmill 3G pitch, today brought the end of the back to back matches. Which we won in the last minute in the cup match last week. However Halsetown got there revenge today going 2-0 up midway through the second half. We then came back into the match when I got 1 back, they complained about being offside, oh well too bad! We then piled on the pressure and in the last minute force a defender to head over his own keeper to make it 2-2. At this point we were happy with the draw, but they weren't and from the k.o forced a winner.

Two really though matches, where to be fair a win each by the odd goal in the last minute each time showed how evenly matched the two teams were.

we will concentrate on the cups now!

we are still are new team and starting to gel together, but also some who are new to vets football are realising how hard you have to work to get a result.

Bude Town 6 Royal Par 4. Incredible performance by the away team who managed to snatch defeat from victory coming from 4-3 up to lose 6-4 with 3 goals scored by Bude in the last 10 minutes. Manager Cameron Hague noted after the game that his biggest disappointment was not losing more heavily though training Wednesday working on sliced clearances, giving away soft free kicks and not tracking back should remedy that. Despite a promising start (we had enough socks) Bude started brightly by kicking the ball into our net twice. The first goal came from Bude kicking the ball towards the net, as did the second, and the third, you get the idea, 3-1 down at half time. Royal Par came out for the second half a different side, less crap rather than crap. Bude had a goal chalked off for offside by our 74 year old perfectly working eyesight/keeps up with play linesman Adrian, before you know it 4-3 to us. At this point, Royal Par 4-3 up, wind in their sails, Bude on the back foot there was only going to one winner, Bude. 3 goals in the last 10 minutes, Barcelona like attack/Benny Hill defending resulted in a home win. Hosts great through out, roast potatoes, pasties £2 pints after the game. Win/lose/draw Bude Vets great place to play football on Sunday morning.
