Topcat Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Not sure whether this would work or not, but after looking at the Combination league table, Reserve teams seem to be way ahead of the pack in their fixtures. Would it not be a good idea to give these teams a Saturday off in the early rounds of the Senior cup? This would also help the Referee situation on Senior Cup Saturdays. Teams that do well in the Senior cup would not suffer for it at the end of the season with a backlog of games. As it stands this week Helston,Perranwell and Holmans have only completed a third of their season and Truro,Port and Penzance are already in the second half of their respective season! Constructive veiws only please.
cornishteddyboy Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Teams such as Pz, Falmouth, Newquay Reserves cannot play in either the Senior or Junior Cup. There should be a Countywide cup for Senior reserves teams. Why waste Saturdays in the early part of autumn instead of trying to fulfill fixtures at the end of the season when the Combo gets involved with the Supplementary Cup? The reason they have played so many games is because they must play midweek games under lights. The league gives other teams the option of playing midweek but only RNAS Culdrose agreed the rest refusing.
r_and_l Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 why are teams given the option of playing midweek games cause at the end of the season most teams have at least 2 games a week they dont have a choice then????????
cornishteddyboy Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 It may be the fact that teams are given the choice because the league know the Reserves sides will be packed with 1st teamers midweek, hence they give the rest of the teams a choice. Culdrose agreed to midweek games because they start their season after everyone else and also have a long break off during Christmas.
r_and_l Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 thanks for the answer ctb
