Unused Sub
Pre season is the same every season. A number of players using the line, "I don't know what I'm doing yet." This line is used to play as many friendlies for as many clubs as possible, basically taking the p**s. How do most clubs get around this issue? 1 way would be to play hardball and say that unless you sign you can't play, but obviously you don't want to annoy them and lose them to another club. Dave Deacon
"In the old days" it used to be a case of having to sign if anyone wanted to play so that they were covered for insurance purposes!

Tempo
It's a tough one. It's hard to tell who is simply using you and who wants to get a grasp of what a match day with the team is like.
