Promotions- Trelawny premier

Firstly, Thanks Juan for the sentiments. It was a really tough league this year, which the table will show. Any 2 of 6 could have been in this position. Congrats to SOM on their league win, absolutely deserved, and if they applied next year, and passed the grading, would walk into Combo and be a great addition. Also Congrats to Pendeen, was a hell of a run at the end of the season to get the points on the board, thoroughly deserved.

For our part though, what started as an idea 8/9 years ago by 4 or 5 people, to start up a side full of local lads that were all mates, and try and climb through the leagues, has tonight been justified.

After the merge of Mining and Fal/Helston leagues effectively put us 2 promotions back, the core of the guys stuck together and carried on. We all play for the club and each other, and I might be biased, but this is nothing less than we deserve. Whatever happens now, nobody can take away what we've achieved in our short time together. Not bad for Illogan 4th team!!

surly you cannot be planning on playing on that 'grass' pitch behind the large sports hall? -_-

Your quotation implies that you don't believe it's grass? :D

Ballsax may correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe West Cornwall are entirely self-funded (along with sponsors), with players and volunteers doing the work on their ground to get the pitch up to the required specifications for the Combination League. Shouldn't they be congratulated rather than criticised? I've seen lots of teams congratulate Pendeen, but as far as I'm aware they haven't actually been confirmed as being promoted due to potential issues with the dimensions of their dugouts and yet, only a couple of contributors on this website not congratulating a club with ambition being promoted to senior football. Beggars belief!

Firstly, it's surely.

Secondly, yes, we absolutely plan on playing on that "grass" pitch. Why you felt the need for the quotation marks I'm not sure, as it is 100% grass?!

We've done all that was asked of us, built 2 good sized dugouts from scratch, and sourced a surround so we can rope the pitch off. It's quite pathetic really, had we not applied we'd be accused of having no ambition, but when we apply and do the work, also at our own expense, then we get ridiculed.

Juan, again absolutely spot on with everything you've said. Thanks to you and Justin.

Congratulations to both @West Cornwall FC and @wazza1999 of Pendeen.

Deserved promotion over the duration of the season.

Good to see Pendeen back in Combination football. They've got a good set of boys down there and pleased for the likes of Wayne and Glenn etc who have stuck with them through some tough years to regroup and come strong again. Decent little set up and I hope that they have the ambition to get the clubhouse up and running again down there. The club has a great deal of potential.

As for West Cornwall, it's good to see a new side in the Combination League. Again, a strong season and they deserve it. I know they've put in a lot of hard work this season with their playing facilities etc. I think it's a good thing. The higher up you go the better the facilities will be, and although it may seem like a pain at the time, the more you do the more proud you will be! Great from them - they've showed how a newly formed club should go about their business. Formed less than 10 years ago, they've stuck together, added to their squad, strengthened, progressed through the league, added a reserve team and have reached the promise land of the Combination League. Teams newly formed could take a leaf out of their book and follow their model so that they then don't fold again a couple of years after forming.

Hope to join you this time next year - after we get promoted, not you getting relegated!

The last game I saw at there pitch grass long, pitch not marked 18yds   box more like 15 yds  not good enough for senior football

Pitch looked good enough to me when I watched them on Monday. I'm curious, did you get your yardstick out and measure whilst you were there Skinner?

Congratulations to West Cornwall ?

Not sure 3G allowed in combo if needed??

As for knocking the pitch , please behave you've clearly not visited st just !

Thanks Marksy, if/when the 3G gets sanctioned then it becomes a viable pitch, the league cannot say no to it, it's not guaranteed that we would take it up even if it was sanctioned.
