PETER HOCKIN Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 St Cleer maintained their 100% record in Duchy Division 2, making it eleven wins out of eleven, with a 2-1 victory against nearest rivals Holywell Bay/Cubert. Saints took the lead on twenty five minutes with a well struck free kick from captain Lee Collins. Holywell Bay came back into the match early in the second half with a strike from Chad Gibson. St Cleer recovered from this set back and took all three points with a well worked team move which resulted in a cool finish from Martin Jackson. This was a well contested match between two teams who will both surely be in the promotion race at the end of the season.
Referee Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 COME ON PETER, IT'S NOT FAIR, REALLY. 11 OUT OF 11. I AM GOING TO HAVE A WORD WITH RUSSELL AND SEE IF HE CAN LET SOMEBODY ELSE WIN FOR A CHANGE !!!!!
PETER HOCKIN Posted November 25, 2007 Author Report Posted November 25, 2007 Maybe its the way forward. Perhaps let referees have a season as a manager and vice versa then maybe they will all learn to appreciate the frustrations that occur on both sides!
Guest Dermot Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Good point Peter,as an ex player and manager myself it is good to see both sides of the game and it does help with the communication side of Reffing. I remember back in my playing days in Leicester there was twins, who were both ex players and Refs,in there spare time they were a tag team on the wrestling circuit and their wit and put downs on the pitch to players were fantastic and nobody ever had a moan at them on the pitch or off. ;0) :clapper:
russhale Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Credit goes to the squad and committee, they prepare well, and have the desire. I am enjoying the challange of managing, complete contrast to being a referee. Each game has been a joy and I am proud of the players. Russell
Guest BJs Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Got to say this was the best game I have refereed in the Duchy League, a credit to both teams and also the hospitality shown by St Cleer.
Julian Chenery Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Congratulations on your 11 out of 11. Oh, and snap!! PREMIER DIVISION St Stephens Borough Played 11 Won 11
PETER HOCKIN Posted November 27, 2007 Author Report Posted November 27, 2007 Thanks Julian. Likewise, what a great start for Borough. A long way to go I know, but are you looking to progress to ECPL or does playing at Warfelton make that unlikely?
Julian Chenery Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Certainly East Cornwall is the aim - Warfelton is a no no as far as that is concerned so we are currently looking at other options. Would be a shame not to be able to take promotion should we earn it on the pitch.
Referee Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS AND LOOK FORWARD TO REFFING YOU NEXT YEAR WHICHEVER LEAGUE OR DIVISION YOU WILL BE PLAYING IN. oH, DID I MENTION THAT I'VE WRITTEN A BOOK ??
