Paul Collings Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Pensilva 3 - 0 St Minver Reserves Pensilva denied St Minver Reserves the point they needed to secure the Division Three title tonight. Saints made a lively start to their last match of the season but against the run of play Pens took the lead after 20 minutes. Pensilva have one of those pitches where there really is a good home advantage and they played their slope well in the second half keeping control of their lead and frustrating the visitors as they probed for the all important equaliser. A good, entertaining game on a rather bumpy pitch turned somewhat sour in the last ten minutes. The visitors conceded two further goals, one of their players was sent off for stamping and another just walked off. As fate would have it, Pensilva will still have a say in whether St Minver will be champions or runners-up. Next Wednesday Lanivet, currently in second place, have the daunting task of visiting Pensilva in their last league match and a win for Lanivet will now see them crowned as champions. I can't help thinking that St Minver's decision not to accept Pensilva's hospitality in the bar after the match may not have been a smart move.
