His Cornish connection was featuring for Oxford United at the infamous F A Cup 1st.Rd.tie at Bickland Park in 1962. He also met up with Falmouth when chairman of Milton United in Oxfordshire where Falmouth triumphed 4-1 in a F A Vase tie in 1993/4.. He was the perfect host in their hospitality room as can be vouched by one Falmouth committee man who never saw a ball kicked that afternoon.
