Dave Deacon Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Regrettably heard of two in the county yesterday who are currently in hospital having suffered heart attacks recently. 1) Kevin Rowett, who a lot will know more recently as the County Youth manager ... but before that as a player in the South Western League and 2) Tony Claypole - most of us will know him as either a player at Penzance, coach at Penzance and / or Mousehole and obviously a player in the Veterans League. An ex-pro, his claim to fame is playing for Northampton and being in the side that went up through the old league system from Division Four to Division One, but then straight back down again!
Guest Dermot Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Hope its a speedy recovery for both Tony and Kevin, makes my torn calf muscle at Hayle on Saturday look trivial, all the best to both fellas.
Tommy Matthews Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Wow! I'm really shocked! My best wishes go to both these guys who have given a lot to Cornish football. Tony was the combo team manager when I was at Penzance many years ago and as far as I was aware was still doing a bit of playing in vets football despite his age and apparently was still doing the business. I took over from Kevin as Cornwall Youth Team Manager and he came to watch us in the final last year. Brilliant bloke and a real gentleman. I hope you're both well soon fellas!
Guest ggr_garth Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Heard about Kevin on Saturday, best wishes to all of his friends and family. Best wishes to Tony's family and friends too.
