r_and_l Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Due to the derbys in the premiership this weekend it got me thinking what is the biggest derby in cornish footie?
cornishteddyboy Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 According to Rodney Beer St Just v Penzance Reserves in the Combo.
Guest phats Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Holmans v illogan always a good one!
kevin richards Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 PORTHLEVEN V HELSTON. USED TO BE A GREAT 10-30 BOXING DAY FIXTURE UNTIL ALEX McDONALD DECIDED OTHERWISE !
r_and_l Posted November 11, 2007 Author Report Posted November 11, 2007 There are a few i can think of Falmouth v Penryn St agnes v perranporth Goonhavern v St agnes I have to say I have played in a few local derbys and they are the best games to play in everyone gives an extra 20% and the result means so much more roll on the next derby match :clapper:
local_boy Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 St.Ives vs Hayle or Penzance is always a big game for us!!
Guest Ronin Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Perranporth/Aggie - never an uneventful game :P
Guest Helston Patriot Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 PORTHLEVEN V HELSTON. USED TO BE A GREAT 10-30 BOXING DAY FIXTURE UNTIL ALEX McDONALD DECIDED OTHERWISE ! But the season after you got relegated!!! so it made no difference I love these; Helston V Culdrose Helston V Port Helston V Mullion Helston V Wendron (not as much anymore) Helston V Truro And who can forget ST JUST AWAY.... LOVE IT!
kevin richards Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 DONT THINK SO M8, WE PLAYED PENZANCE TWICE WHILST YOU BOYS HAD TO GO & WATCH A GAME SOMEWHERE ? :D
Guest WINNO Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Have to agree with Kev here Breas. Alex complained saying it was unfair and was worried about Port loading up in the am kick off. It was more like he had players whom could not get there for the kick off time. I cannot see why the fixture isnt resurrected anyway. It can be done Penryn now play Falmouth where they used to play Perranwell....
eddy junior Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 helston have been playing ludgvan last few seasons on boxing day...strange 1! i had one boxing day match down port for the reserves...great occasion. even kev was nice to me :P
Gee Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Has to be Illogan v's Holmans for me. So many local lads who have all played for 1 side or another or even both it adds a real spice. We have met 7 times in the league so far with 6 draws league standing never has any bearing on what the result could be. Boxing day clash is at Holmans this year, always a good sesh after. More clubs should do it.
sammo 66 Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 i know im not talking combo here but if you really like your derbys try st day versus carharrack . they use to play once a year for a trophy but guess what someone nicked it . no need to turn up if you didnt like the physical side of the game but still good fun .
Guest jol's blue & white army Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Bodmin v Wadebridge
Guest danny-efc-pafc Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 st ives vs halsetown is always a good 1 always close battles
