Steve Winnan & Darren Friend leave Falmouth Town

Falmouth club statement-

Two most loyal players Steve Winnan & Darren Friend  have left Falmouth to play the coming season at Mawnan in the Trelawney League.

Falmouth Town F C and Andy Westgarth in particular wish them the very best and thank them fo their oustanding long service at Bickland Park.

Steve who has been at Falmouth in almost 20 seasons (virtually his whole career on and off) made his first team debut in August 1998 (H v Torpoint) making 115 Appearances.

Darren has been at Falmouth for over 10 seasons playing mainly for the Reserves but has been called up without hesitation to make 39 appearances his debut being December 2006 (H v Plymouth Argyle Res).

Both players were members of The Combination League and Cup winners of 2011-12 under Paul Murray.

Good to see two boys wanting to play better football.

Two good players. Big fish and small pond springs to mind, or playing with their mates which seems to be symptomatic of today's culture but their loyalty has to be commended. That is rare but I suppose their service to the club would have been worthy of a testimonial at a bigger club.
