Combo Fixture - 9th August 2016

Enjoy it, Baldy. Tea was 50p last season, with a biscuit and a smile: and a bacon bap was £1.50. I'll find out tomorrow if they've upped their prices! (Like Truro: £13 to get in now, £10 for OAPs!) Nice ground: not much cover, but a great atmosphere when there's a decent few there.

Carharrack 5-0 Hayle

Carharrack deserved winners. Two good saves from the Hayle keeper before the first goal. The home side also hit the bar and in the second half, Hayle did likewise.

Kevin Knowles had a great game in the middle, although the visiting glovesman might disagree.

The goals came: 8m, 21m, 31m, 81m, 90+1m.

Carharrack missed a penalty in the 35th minute. It was saved although to be fair it was a poor effort.

Scorers: Wilton, Stephens, Shaw, Wilton, Powell in that order. Shaw  was the penalty-taker.

Best one: either Wilton's 2nd which nearly bust he net, or Powell's delightful little chip over the 'keeper.

Tea still 50p, biscuits still gratis, bacon butty still £1.50.

Blissful evening (except for those from Hayle, of course). After going 3 - 0 up by half time I'd expected an avalanche of goals in the 2nd half as Carharrack were attacking down the slope but Hayle obviously expected an onslaught and dug in well until those two late goals. Quietly reffed by Kevin Knowles.

Even better saves when you consider he was their second highest goalscorer last season - Danny Ford!

Obviously a very select clientele at tonight's game. Met Richard Chown and his dad. I counted 45 at 1850. Very nice setting. Friendly people and a resounding win for a team in their 2nd? season in the Combo. Could be 3rd, time travels fast when your older. Damn cold wind in the 2nd half, glad we had the blankets in the car!
