Hi, does anyone have any idea if clubs need I.D's for their players for the coming season?

It's certainly not a CCFA or Trelawny League directive. You will have to check with the Duchy League Rules but I've certainly not heard about it.

There's been talk of it for years. The leagues won't buy into it. I'm not sure entirely what it would achieve unless the teams carry out a similar procedure to that of the Kernow Youth League

Just for your information, Players ID was introduced in Devon for all Leagues 3 years ago.  We were given to understand this was a directive from the FA at Wembley.  I would be inclined to contact Cornwall FA and seek advice.  Every adult player need an ID card to be able to play.  Personally I think its a con, but we have had to do it.  What happen to the days you just turn up and played a game of football

This is not what happens in the duchy league. However I think it's the way forward, as it would sort out the problem of teams playing players under another name. Our club has never done this but I have played against teams that have played players that aren't registered for them, but there's no way of proving it. In the east Cornwall youth league this is mandatory I think it's the way forward for adult football.

And do these cards cost anything hedgerow?

As i recall from a meeting a couple years back with an FA man explaining the Whole Game System, the FA could do id cards for a few pence each - but they would like all players details on a data base of course, could participating numbers possibly equal cash funding?

I expect locally, in small numbers with the odd one or two being requested every week throughout the season this would be more like a couple of quid.

A bit of a nightmare to administer for the hard pressed volunteers of leagues and clubs alike. It's a great shame there is even the need for it.

The cost is around £5 per player.  Yes it is a nightmare for the Club Secretary to organise on behalf of the County Association.  Yes it also cuts out ringers.  Each Club will be sent a list of players registered to the scheme, including a picture of the player.  If you think your opponents are playing an illegal player, the manager/secretary can ask to see there opponents list of photographed players, the match official can also check the list.

It is time consuming, a pain in the rear end, but it does work

If Clubs are on the Whole Game System, you can log on and it will give you all the information you require.

So if adopted, what would a referee have to do - before the match started, check all the players ID's ?

Yes

It happens all the time Paul, yeah I'll try and get photos and forward them. Bit hard though as a manager I'm trying to watch my players and get a result. But when we all know the normal squad players and come the end of the season, a load of guys in track suits turn up that have never been seen all season, then play the game at a much higher level and take out of the opposition whilst getting the result for their reserve side. It happens everywhere.
