Back from watching Newquay vs Penryn early because wanted to see the lifeboat program because Newquay crew are on it . Well Newquay have got a very young side but they got some good youngsters there young Jack Rapsey seemed very nervous in the 1st half but a lot better in the 2nd half Penryn took the lead in the 1st half when the Newquay goalie failed to hold the ball and the Penryn had a easy goal but when i left Newquay where winning 2-1 my pick of the players the No4 and Brodie Mitchell ex Godolphin player and i always think Jack Bray Evans plays well the 2nd half i thought the No2 was a good player and Jack Rapsey was playing well . I can see Newquay struggling with there defence they are a very young team a couple where still in there nappies lol . Newquay wont have much hope against the Falmouths ,St Austells and Parkway sides ok thats 1st 3 games they can say goodbye to but i think this Newquay side will be ok and its great to see youngsters being part of the team .It was good to see Sandra who made a fuss of Smokie Don i havnt seen for years and Ian who is Mr Newquay ,also Mr and Mrs Rapsey watching there lad play and they must be proud of him wearing the red and white stripes like his dad did all those years ago .See u again Newquay Well done

NEWQUAY  (0)  5    Sanders 49, 89,  Rapsey 58, OG 72'  H.Turner 86,

PENRYN  (1)  1    Lawrence 20,

Game of two halves really, Penryn showed why they are one of the top sides in the West Division by shading the first half and deserved the lead. The second half was a different story with Newquay mostly dominating and playing some lovely football finished off with some great goals! Nice evening for watching football for the 70 or so spectators there and great to catch up with some old friends. Always a pleasure visiting Mount Wise. You were spot on 100%, the boy was a bit nervous before the game and that low sun was difficult up the far end first half but glad Macca kept him on for another 15 minutes 2nd half despite all the changes half time and it turned out well for him. He wasn't so quiet on the way home ?  Lots of positives for both teams I would imagine, enjoyable game to watch. Bit flattering and harsh on Penryn with two further goals in the last 4 minutes probably. Hope Smokie enjoyed the sunny evening ?

Yes Smokie loved the sun he didnt move for all of the 1st half Mark . Penryn where definitly the better side in the 1st half the small player was good he reminded me of the small player that played for Wadebridge Chippy Chapman  sadly i think hes passed away now . Hope Dan PETERS doesnt do too many **** ups like he did with Penryns goal but he did well for the rest of the game hope he stays at Newquay and doesnt do his tour of other clubs like he usually does .Newquay need a old hand to look after the youngsters but overall excellent performance .Dont expect your boy has stopped talking about his goal then you can remind him of how many goals u scored I remember u giving Ugo EHIOGU run around when u played for Falmouth vs Villa but Dwight Yorke and Daolian Atkinson played really well that night

Classic example of where, if we're going to comment on players and officials, that we make sure we get the name right please!

Kevin Lawrence is the Penryn player you like 100%. Been a top player for a few teams down here over the years. Dan is an excellent young keeper, still only 19 with a great career ahead of him and no doubt getting some sound advice off dad JP.  Thought he played very well and the ball was kicked out of his hands on the goal. Shame he can't play on Saturday.  The boy was really impressed with Macca and his team mates, bit gutted with his first half but chuffed with his 15 minutes 2nd half!! Told him not to be too hard on himself, going to get a bit of inconsistency at 17 years of age, still growing and learning all those young lads. Good game of football with hardly a late tackle all game. ?⚽️
