Guest
A fantastic effort by all involved at West Cornwall yesterday for this game, which made over £2000 for The Rifles' Care For Casualties charity. West Cornwall took the lead through a simply remarkable shot from Owain Barrett. Despite having multiple attempts cleared off the line, two or three against the woodwork and some very good goalkeeping by the visiting goalkeeper, West Cornwall were unable to win the game and take home the trophy for the first time as 4 Rifles scored twice in the second half. A simply amazing gesture by both West Cornwall and 4 Rifles. A massive well done to everyone who took part in the day. Cornwall is lucky to have a club like yours. ballsax
Thanks Dave for your kind words, and also to you, Porky and Elliot for coming along to officiate the game. It turned out to be a fantastic day, everything we hoped for. Glad the rain stayed away too!! Shame about the result but it was all about the occasion. We hope everyone that made it enjoyed their day, and we look forward to continuing this event in the years ahead. Hopefully it can get bigger and better!! I know we all mucked in a bit on the day, but special Thanks must go to Dan "Dave" Inch and Ian Chatfield. The work they put in behind the scenes to get it all organised was incredible, without their drive and determination, it wouldn't have been possible. Also to all the girls (WAGS!), who really went above and beyond to help make the day what it was. They deserve all the credit. Huge shout out to the 4 rifles guys for making the trip down, great effort from them, and congrats on your win. Keenly contested game played in exactly the right spirits. Lovely touch afterwards too with their gift for Daves family. Also a big Thanks to the entertainment and food stalls that gave up their time for free, really is appreciated. Fantastic amount of money raised, not sure on the final total yet but over £2000 it's looking like for a worthy cause. We look forward to our trip up to Aldershot next year now, hopefully we can get our names etched on the trophy next time!
