Teams folding in trewlawny league

Recommended Posts

The whole club :( Not enough volunteers to keep the club going. A sign of the times. Lads just want to turn up and play these days without helping out

At least it was pre season. Who knew they wanted/needed volunteers. I'm sure they are out there but no one tried asking. Such a shame, but if there are any new clubs needing a pitch, Trethewa or Trefrewa is available and only one playing at Drym Road Nancegollan. If minimal facility requirements become Trelawny League rules, would Praze get back in?

Seen this morning that Constantine will be folding unless they can get a manager as well. Fingers crossed for them!!!

This is where a player should step up to the mark and take it on, if only to keep the club running

And it's only going to get worse.

Now we are paying for all the structured kids football , where everything is done for them from 6 years of age.

And where they've been brought up on televised football, so interest in "real" football is diminishing as we all get older.

They just turn up and play, and they're bringing that ethos with them into men's football.

Plenty more teams to fold yet.

Which two sides are these? with so many teams dropping out we are not going to be left with many. It could be 10-12 in each league by the time the leagues start!

Trelawny prem,1,2,3 & 4, countless teams not applying to re join and will be folding very shortly, so ALL new applicants will be voted in which would stilly be beneficial for the league, any changes to the junior cup process?

Elegilble players for games, as in not too many senior players dropping down for midweek fixtures when their combo / Swpl team doesn't have a game? Makes a bit of a farce of the spirit of the game when this happens I think!?

Every club is allowed to play two players from the higher ranked teams, that was cut from 3 to 2 a couple of seasons ago I believe!!! There's lots of loopholes in it but to be considered a higher level player you have to play 50percent of higher teams fixtures or 3 consecutive fixtures for higher ranked sides!

What's wrong with putting two players in who are signed play for your club if there available because they've signed for your club for all teams why shouldn't they be allowed to help out all the sides when available??

The rule that everyone should be pushing for is one I said about couple seasons ago where if your club has a peninsula, combination and trelawny league side you can't sign for trelawny side elsewhere.... Sign for whole Club and can play for anyone in that club shouldn't not be allowed help own club out...

On other side coin if you've got junior player towards end of season and combination side got loads of injuries and he's helping them out and with lots fixtures end season if he played Saturday Wednesday Saturday for them even if the only three times all year there then classed as a senior player until they've played 3 consecutive junior fixtures this rule maybe one rules why players don't wanna step up!! Or bring in same rule as there is for teams with two trelawny sides you keep status you had as player on 1at April for rest of season for example if played for thirds all year in trelawny league then help out combo few times after that date you still remain junior player or another way put back to old rule of 5 games before becoming senior player. would be interesting hear other senior clubs opinions on whether this caused any issues for them?

Is there really much of a difference in standard between combo and Trelawny anymore? Yeah you get some players in combo that can set the Trelawny league on fire, but that's just a minority in my opinion.

Ive not watched a combo game in quite a while so I could be misinformed

Ridiculous idea when you have pitches available locally.

Park Road has had a club enquire I believe and they were told they could have the pitch by council but they approached the cricket club for changing facilities and were then rejected no idea who it was though

Another sub standard venue, unless a team plans on having some changing facilities on site this pitch should not be considered useable I visited it once for a midweek game and it was a shambles!

I know planning permission would be needed but it's a shame forum users and people in the local football community couldn't do a DIY SOS and build some changing facilities. Nothing fancy with huge changing rooms, two lots of referees rooms but something that is acceptable for Trelawny standard football. Failing that a donation for a Nancegollan style structure.

It's not a bad pitch to play on. Yeah there's a bit of a slope but when the grass is at an acceptable length and the sun is shining, it's not bad at all.

There are much, much worse being used!

Whoever the team was who enquired about Park Road, Roskear will be free if Camborne Athletic are withdrawing.

Camborne Town still play there so would have to share still. Again though a lack of changing facilities at this ground using the church next door. Few occasions we have had to change in a corridor or in our cars because its locked.

I know Town are still there but if it's a choice between sharing or going further out of town, even to Clijah I would guess it would be better. Don't they use the school building to change? Harking back to my playing days that's what they used then.

Pitches worse than Park Road? You're actually asking that question? Chiverton springs to mind straight away. I'd much rather play on that pitch than quite a few I've played on over the last few seasons.

Theres nothing wrong with Park Road. it has different qualities as with most pitches. Some don't drain well, some cut up easy, some are very patchy in places, some are bobbly, some have a slope etc...

With the small slope aside, Park Road is one of the better pitches around CP&R. The only thing that lets it down is the fact there are no changing facilities.

It's the old school, a community centre. They divide the hall with a screen. The only  shower is in a disabled toilet where the referee gets changed.

I was really surprised  when i visited the St.Agnes pitch at Chiverton at the end of the season.Pitch fenced off, good covering of grass all over and just generally looking more like a football pitch.Still the same old changing facilities though but i suppose it's a case of small steps in the right direction.

It's a shame St Agnes Rugby Club don't play at Chiverton, then St Agnes could have all their sides at the same venue.

Bare in mind I haven't been there for a few seasons :) That was just one off the top of my head. Halsetown was always another one. Twice I've seen legs broken on that pitch with no player near the injured party at the time of the break

Halsetown was always a classic. Hemmed in on all sides and those huge boulders on the bottom side were always waiting for a player to crash into them. I did prefer it to St Ives Rugby Club though, something more intimate about it. For me the two worst pitches I had the pleasure of playing on were Roskear (with one half seemingly bigger than the other) and Penzance Leisure Centre which seemed to be such a small pitch. Not far behind was Cury and that sloping pitch and Ruan Minor as someone pointed out before I went there, the goalposts didn't line up. I was down that way in February and it seems as though building work was taken place to improve the old shoddy changing rooms.

Get out boy...I loved playing there - proper old junior football pitch.

Apparently all the babies are born down there with one leg longer then the other.....then they all move to Perranwell! :)

changing rooms are shame at chivy ,pitch is starting to look good me and my missus spend a lot of time sorting it out up there, she even does the pitch cutting with are almost 2 year old in a back carrier and the boy just gets line marker all over the place, water should b going in b4 start of season so it is one step at a time .

plenty of room to put a couple of containers in to change .

Come off it Jammy , Pitches at Clijah are flat and goalmouths have grass in them , park road has a slope, goalmouths are either solid earth or puddles depending on the time of the year and you have to walk half a mile from the changing rooms , rumour has it both fields at park road will be built on .

Yes have to agree the park road pitch has a terrible slope, either lots of grass and dogs muck everywhere or no grass and a mud bath! Clijah are not the greatest either mind you, again dogs mess and sticks everywhere.

still, plenty of money coming to Cornwall soon now we've left the EU...!

it is a shame to see so many teams struggling though, I think it stems from not enough decent youth set ups in Cornwall. Kids don't have the options nowadays and lose interest or just don't get interested in the first place!
