THE Ashes made hard work of this cup-tie at Kimberley Stadium which they appeared to have sewn up by the interval.

Saltash were the only side in the first half as they scored twice in the opening 11 minutes before missing several chances to add to their tally.

Stuart Clark's cross found Glen Palmer diving to head home the first before Steve Sargison's cross was helped on by Danny Lewis for Clark to rifle the ball home.

Whatever was said to Blazey during the break certainly worked as they took the second half honours and were level by the 65th minute after Lee Whette and Jay Isbell had both scored.

Ashes looked to have won the tie seven minutes from time when Clark scored but back came Blazey with Isbell taking the tie into extra time.

Blazey shook the home crowd by taking the lead on 108 minutes as Whetter lobbed goalkeeper Chris Wearing from 12 yards.

Saltash were level three minutes later as Lewis reached the bye-line to pull the ball back for Clark to complete his hat-trick.

The winning goal came after 113 minutes of pulsating play when Blazey skipper Neil Burton handled in the area for Tony Bouch to fire his spot-kick low into the corner of the net.

We had alot of players missing for this game including myself, Wayne Hewitt, Simon Parnell, Phil Smith & Matt Parsons, Carl Rickard. Roll On Sat

Having watched the game at Bodieve Park on Tuesday evening I thought Wadebridge were full value for their win. The Porthleven goal was a soft one and the home side also hit the upright twice and the bar twice and the League table certainly looks good reading for Bridgers' fans with games in hand over all teams around them in the table.

Will be an interesting game at Mount Wise on Saturday with Newquay boosted by the big win over Goonhavern and the good result against Torpoint Athletic last night in the Charity Cup.
