tommi
I'm new to Cornish Soccer and wanted to know the structure of the leagues, which league is the best standard and which are lower standard etc, I understand that there was a recent reshuffle of certain leagues that mean some teams in lower divisions are better than those in higher league. Anyone keen to offer some insight?
skippy
Step 5 - Western League (Premier) division is the highest league of which only Truro City competes. Step 6 - SW Peninsula League Premier Division is has 7 clubs from Cornwall (likely to be 8 or more in coming seasons). Only one club from west Cornwall due to strength of rugby in these parts Step 7 - SW Peninsula League Div 1 West, 15 of the 16 sides from Cornwall The two feeder leagues to the SWP Div 1 are the East Cornwall Premier and the Cornwall Combination (West Cornwall) contain a number of reserve teams. Below this are the junior leagues, primarily the Falmouth-Helston, Mining and Duchy League. Some talk of the Fal-Helston and Mining leagues amalgamating, which seems logical. It would provide a greater chance of promotion/relegation for clubs with multiple teams.
