Duchy Reserve Team Cup Final

Recommended Posts

The Duchy League’s Reserve Team  Cup Final takes place at Godolphin FC on Tuesday 28th April (6.30 pm) when Grampound (Div 3) take on St Minver (Div 4).
This is a much underrated competition and I can assure you there will be plenty of passion and endeavour on display and it should be a good one to watch.
The team of officials for the match should be Alan Howells, Bob Steggles and Mark Graham.
Just a reminder to all those pesky young people who seem to travel with no cash – entry is £2.

St Minver Res. 1-2 Grampound Res.

St Minver took the lead early on with Grampound struggling to find any form but on the half-hour, Kev Toms got Grampound's equaliser and from then Grampound were the dominant team although chances for either side were few and far between.  Ryan Clark hit the deserved winner in the last minute from a free kick wide on the right and from the re-start referee Alan Howells (who had an excellent game) had only about 15 seconds left on his watch. A great win after a season that has been difficult at times with league points still needed for safety from relegation from Division 3.

Congratulations to Grampound on their win. Think experience seen them through against a young St Minver side in an evenly contested game.

Thank you and you may be right, we had one or two players who have certainly served their time in the Duchy League. Grampound's stand-out player was Ryan Clark who played with huge intensity for 90 minutes and scored the winner but my personal man of the match for Grampound was young defender Tom Molyneux who was only 17 a couple of months ago.  He played with calmness and maturity and hardly put a foot wrong for 90 minutes. He is developing rapidly and is going to be an exceptional player.   I'm very proud of all of the team for bringing a Duchy League trophy back to Grampound for the first time since before most of the team tonight were born.  Going to be a few sore heads in the morning.

Congratulations to Grampound....... well done.

Cheers Graham. Heard Truro got a good result too!  Hope you were there to see it.
