Home Waters
;) With all the results 7 SWPPL clubs left the Vase today. Leaving Liskeard and Parkway in, a bit of a decimation

Guest The Judge aka RED OR DEAD
The only shock at Mount Wise, was that 6 players decided that it would be better to attend a wedding rather than play in the FA Vase, I hope they are all dropped from the match on Weds v Hayle. Those that answered last minute calls or drafted in from the Combo side deserved a draw against an average looking Shortwood (how they beat Tivvy 3-0 I do not know). Newquay 0-1 down inside 2mins and 0-2 after 27mins, the only two attempts on Dave Wiltons goal in the first half as Newquay dominated but could not convert the numerous chances. The visitors controlled the fist 15mins of the 2nd half until the makeshift Peppermints realised they could actually beat the Hellenic Prem (level 5) side - Sam Hunter with a superb solo goal on 63mins and an equaliser from Andy (tall defender) on 72mins sent the home fans wild. Extra time loomed but with just 4mins left a 30 yard fee kick which was going 8 yards wide was steered into the net by an outstreched leg from the visitors. Harsh luck for the Peppermints but a standing ovation from the main stand and hellfire corner said it all !
Anita
I heard that Newquay played great football today and easily should of had a draw. Well done to the Newquay boys that played I got told that you played the better football on the day, and where all bought a pint after the game
Guest Peppermint
The player who scored Newquay's second goal was Andy Morris. The whole team throughly deserved the standing ovation because despite missing 9 players through injuries and the wedding they played really well. Allforone's comment about Shortwood United having too much class for Newquay was completely wrong and the winning goal came from a free kick that never was and when the winning goal went in Ollie Dart was having his shirt pulled by not one opposing player but two! The referee and the assistant failed to see that incident despite having a very good view of it. Well done to all the players who did the club proud yesterday and it will be interesting to see what the line up will be for the Hayle game in midweek.
