Dan Inch Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Marazion Res 2 - 3 West Cornwall Res 3 nil up at half time through Jowan, Ali and Joe, second half we did not learn from mistakes and nearly threw it away but a win is all that matters in the semi. On to the final.
bluenose Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Arthur Pearce Cup Semi FinalMarazion Res 2-3 West Cornwall ResWhat a difference a few days make.....on Wednesday we played our best football for the season and for the first half we played our worst. Playing against a strong wind in the first half we were pinned into our own half for most of it, looking to counter when possible. Unfortunately we didn't keep it on the floor and our strikers struggled to do anything with balls around their necks. We had a couple of half chances but couldn't convert. West Cornwall played the better football throughout although only had a few chances in the first half, all of which they converted. 3-0 down at half time.Second half we made some changes and pressed in the West Cornwall half for much of the half. Jason O'Sullivan pulled one back when he jinked his way into the box and coolly slotted past the keeper after about 65 mins. Skipper Steve Hunt grabbed the second with a great strike just inside the area leaving the keeper no chance. We had several other chances but poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept us at bay. Definitely a game of too halves due to the wind. Disappointed with our performance, especially in the first half but credit to West Cornwall, one of the best footballing sides we've faced and were gracious in victory.
