Wendron 4ths 1 - 8 Camborne park

A funny old evening game at Wendron, Started off with couple of guys who were down to start the game and our manager being caught up in traffic so we had make couple changes to line-up to begin with, one lap around pitch and game started! leaving me barking orders from sideline for first 15 until manager appeared!

After first few minutes was a game of ping pong, both teams sloppy on it we found a early breakthrough on 10 minute mark with our first meaningful attack our winger Anthony Nicholls got down left flank before finding Pete norfolk on edge box who on volley found top corner, no chance for home goalkeeper 1-0! when our manager and couple players arrived we just scored a 2nd goal norfolk again the beneficiary after being found in space in the box and fired it past keeper to make it 2-0

Couple of changes were made on half hour mark and immediately reece prout made an impact a great run befoe finding marcus grasso who in turn found striker partner michael catterall who found corner of the net for 3-0.

Just before half-time norfolk completed his hat- trick after jordan knuckey found him free and norfolk cooly finished :) half-time 4-0.

Half time, two more changes were made and 30 seconds into second half grasso brilliantly crossed and found someone free out of 6 that were and they headed home from close range, the best goal of game came when we made 8 or 9 passes in the final third before a curling effort from wide out into the far top corner, The final substitution was made after the 6th goal, and the 7th soon followed norfolk getting his 4th from cateralls pass, Knuckey got 8th goal beating the defence for pace before slotting it past keeper at near post, credit wendron kept coming and with 1 minute left on clock a long ball into box and knock down and one of their subs got in and placed ball out of reach of our keeper for 8-1 final score :) Need one more win to guarantee league title! Marazion away next wednesday should be cracker.

St Day 3rds 0-5 Marazion Blues

For the first 20 mins the game was evenly contested until Marazion got the first goal through Jordan Taylor after a mazey run he slotted in to the bottom left corner. The goals then flowed with Kayode Odetayo hitting a fairly weak shot at the keeper which was fumbled and in. The third goal came from Tanelle Carey who scored from an angle into the right corner. Anthony Stott then hit the underside of the bar from 20 yards where there was disputes as to whether it went in or not. He did score shortly after however with a tidy strike that the keeper again fumbled and in.

Half time 0-4

Second half was similar to the first with Marazion dominating play and not scoring until around 15 mins from the end with Jordan Taylor getting his second goal. The keeper did also make a good save on the line. St Day had a few chances but nothing that troubled the Marazion goal.

Good bunch at St Day thanks to all there

Marazion Res 4-3 Helston 3rds

This game was always going to have a massive say in who gets promotion with both teams well in the mix. Having played Helston 3 times last season and once this, the spoils have been shared with 2 wins a piece and no team winning by more than a goal. Knowing this would be equally difficult we changed the system we are use to using. The first 5 minutes we were all over the place as Helston pressed forward. After that though we took the game to them and controlled the first half. We opened the scoring midway through the half when after good work down the left, Craig Rennard collected the ball and after cutting inside his marker blasted passed the helpless Helston keeper. Not long later he could have doubled our lead but saw his effort crash off the bar and then cleared by the defence. Helston did have a chance of their own but their centre midfielder put over the bar with only Kevin to beat in goal. We were pleased with the first half performance although thought on the balance of play should have been further ahead.

Second half Helston got more in the game and equalised when the full back ran from the half way line, his pace taking him passed 3 players before hitting a left foot shot passed Kevin. Changes were then being made due to injuries and it was Helston that then took the lead. The Helston midfielder who had earlier missed a sitter made up for it when he launched a ball into the box, only to see it deceive Kevin straight over him and into the back of the net. It wasn't long before we equalised when the Helston keeper couldn't hold a Matty Thomas shot and Jason O'Sullivan slid in the rebound. Again Helston came back and the same scorer of their second hit a shot from distance which seemed to got through Kevin and into the back of the net. With minutes ticking away we started to lump balls into the Helston box and it was from this that we equalised. A free kick was played in and with no Helston player going for it, it bounced up and Austin Smith, who had just come on as a sub headed passed the keeper. Then from a similar position on the other side of the pitch, another ball was played into the box and again as it wasn't dealt with by the Helston defence, Jason was on hand at the far post to slot it past the keeper.

All in all this was a quality game played by two footballing sides and comments from people coming to watch said it was better than most Combo games they had seen. Although harsh on Helston I feel we were worthy of the victory having dominated the first half and the end of the second. Helston are extremely strong in the midfield and the trio in the middle of the park could easily play for their other teams. The game was well reffed by the man in black who dished out a couple of yellows for late challenges. Also both linesmen did a cracking job especially the Helston lino. He could have flagged for our third goal (although it was onside) but played it fair when others may have not.

D!@k of the Day - Kevin Waite, safe hands, good kicking but with a hat on and no sun still misjudged the second goal

Man of the Match - Jason O'Sullivan - 2 goals, good movement and ran the defence ragged
