V J Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Once again we saw a manager that showed no respect to opposing teams, and their back room staff, by not coming into the club house after the game. Win, lose or draw it's polite to show your face. No sign of Mr Otten after the St Austell v St Blazey game same as Mr Mewton a couple of weeks ago. After a big defeat that town gave Newquay. Don't you think two managers of this quality should know better? They would be up in arms if Laffs did that at their clubs .Come on Mewton and Otten man up!! One MAN that did show respect is an old stalwart of St Blazey Mr Amos Putt who after the game came up to the stand congratulated a St Austell supporter, shock his hand and wished him all the best for the cup final on Monday, well done Mr Putt. These are my views and not that of AFC St Austell.
leedsunited Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 No manager or backroom staff like losing but your are correct VJ it doesnt look good & slightly embarrasing for their respective clubs aswell..especially as all clubs lay on some sort of hot food after the game for visiting officials & players. Disgruntled at your teams performance or league positioning maybe, but a little respect for opposing clubs efforts doesnt cost anything.
Martin McHugh Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Can I add to this subject by mentioning teams that do not buy any raffle tickets after the game. This is a tradition that often pays for the food that is given to the players after the game. It makes me cross when teams only buy 1 or 2 tickets and in some cases do not buy any ! I am not referring to our fantastic game against Saltash on Friday as we didnt have a raffle this week but I would like to see all managers encouraging their players to take part in this minor fundraising activity after a game. Pauller8 Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Im sure otten came in for his pasty tho or two!!!!
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Its all me, me, me, now I'm afraid folks. All been spoiled.
Paul Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Disgust? Really? How do you no he didn't have something else to get to later that afternoon and couldnt spend the time hanging around? Hardly the end of the world is it? Its a bank holiday after all and people want to spend time with their families. On a lovely sunny day do people really want to spend it in a small social club. Not really. To be fair to Bobby as well over the time hes been at St Blazey hes spent so much of his time engaging with supporters and letting then no about new signings etc. Can't fault him for that. And most games you will see Bobby shaking hands with the opposition after each game. Hes not a bloke who will stand at the bar after each game downing pints. Thats his choice, not yours. I think people just love finding fault with people for no real reason. Very sad.
Martin McHugh Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 i dont think we as managers expect anyone to stand at the bar and "down pints" , it is more about respect for the opposition win lose or draw and if players and managers are not going to pop into the club, buy a raffle ticket and stay for a while then they should mention it before the game to avoid wasted food and the embarresment of asking players to buy a raffle ticket. Its not rocket science, you should be making more friends in football than enemies. MQ April 2014 x
SteveM Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 You should be more disgusted by the lack of respect shown to managers who invest considerable time and effort into local football clubs, only to be criticised by faceless strangers who presume to know said persons itinerary and want to cause strife on a public forum. Move on, nothing to see here.
