Simon2389 Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Div 3 West Troon 0-4 Marazion blues Not the best of games on not the best of pitches. Pitch was very lumpy and bumpy and there were piles of earth everywhere and long grass so both teams struggled. Marazions first goal came around 25 minutes Adam Box cutting inside and slotting a left foot shot into the bottom left corner. Marazion had chance after chance and just could not finish. Troon had a few chances mainly from set pieces which didn't really trouble the Marazion goal. Half time 0-1 Start of the second half and Marazion continued to create chance after chance and just couldn't convert with Jordan Taylor first hitting the inside of the left post then Anthony Stoot hitting the outside of the post shortly after. The second Marazion goal came from a Anthony Stott corner the ball curling in with the wind and the keeper unable to push it out. The third Marazion goal was a simple tap in for Shawn Phillips after the keeper parried. The fourth and final came was scored from Jordan Taylor who cut in from the left and slotted in the bottom right. Phil Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Trelawney Prem. Illogan 1, Helston 1. As the scoreline sugests a very even game at oxland park. I missed the first 15 minutes but what i did see of the 1st half helston dominated possession but rarely tested the illogan keeper, there best efforts coming from set pieces driven into the box. Illogan scored 10 minutes from half time when a free kick was headed in by Calloway i think? 5 minutes into the 2nd half Calloway set up Treloar who drove a cracking shot from 25 yards that rattled the crossbar. Helston then scored their goal 5 minutes later, this one coming from another set peice headed in at the back post, not sure who claimed the goal cos it was ping ponging around for a few seconds. From then on Helston's tails were up and it looked like they would go on to win it, but illogan weathered the storm and in the final 10 minutes had the better of the play again and maybe they could of snatched it. Good even game for the neutral and well ref'd by Alan Pearce.
Scoffy Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 The goal was mike hallibone's original header did cross the line, nice game to play in, fair result and all the best to my Helston mates on Easter Monday
Shifty Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 PREMIER St Keverne 9-1 Mawnan Played the same team 2 days ago and won 4-2. 1-2 changes in each side only but well and truly beaten by a St Keverne side today. Cheers for the food after. AT least the next game comes around quickly - Monday to be precise!
Guest Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Oh I don't know the referees name, and I don't want to seem a referee basher, but... Lol He was diabolical in some decisions and sent off two players from St Day. Even the Constantine, players said before the game as they seen who the referre was, "Oh no not him" So that says it all! Will leave the rest to the reports that may or may not be submitted

Pitty Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Holman sports club 3-4 carharrack Ht 1-4 Lovely sunny day at blaythorne and summer must be coming as we had even cut the grass to levels not seen since the last cricket season faded from memory. I made a return after a game of lets see how swollen I can make my ankle for the last month but sadly all the lucky heather in the world couldnt snatch a victory for us Some new faces in the squad for us I would say young but only if I was writing this and was living in the era of Duran Duran at number 1 and twilight was called trumpets and the Berkeley centre was still open with its indoor skating rink and crazy escalator and Tasky had a moustache......well to be fair Tasky still has his moustache but if that was all current I could say we had a young' Wayne Brown at centre half luckily with me and old man lavis in the side as well we went for experience over youth! The game was basically lost in the first 20min with a header from a decent cross from the right and Lavo performing what we like to call a 'mark Richards' and upending the visitors striker for a cast iron penalty. Luckily Jase got one back as he was in full on goal hanging mood playing just in front of the strikers apparently this is where your supposed to be when centre mid!!!.....that glimmer of hope quickly faded as the visitors found the net twice more in the first half and it was quite noticeable our flying potato sack in goal was either performing some new yoga position or his shoulder was in pain....having called him a big girls blouse he reflected on his condition and promptly went off!!! With a new goalie installed for the start of the 2nd half who thought he was one of those goalies in FIFA 2014 on the ps3 (lots of dribbling out the area) We started the 2nd half brightly and Jase struck again to get it back to 2-4 and then another to make it 3-4 so things were getting interesting for a comeback and if Selley wasn't so bloody upstanding when getting sandwiched in the final moments which could have resulted in another penalty we might have nicked a point but to be fair to the away side they showed loads of determination in the first 45 min to deserve the result Full time 3-4......all back in action Monday night with a festival of football as both teams playing (fingers crossed we have the numbers to field two sides!!!!)
bluenose Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Jubilee Cup 1/4 Finals Praze Res 0-3 Marazion Res After playing Praze on Monday night, we were well aware that this was going to be a difficult fixture, especially without two influential players. We started the first half well, playing good football on a decent surface (the best I've ever seen it). We took the lead following good work from Jason O'Sullivan who middled for Craig Rennard to get a toe to the ball which was enough to divert it into the back of the net past the Praze keeper. Craig got his second midway through the half. Matty Thomas won the ball in the middle of the park and then squared the ball to myself. My long pass split the Praze defence and with the keeper advancing, Craig lobbed him from 25 yards. Praze were restricted to long shots from outside the box, which were bread and butter for Kevin in goal. 2-0 at half time. Praze were playing very narrow trying to restrict us as much as possible but in turn didn't really push forward enough. Second half we took our foot off the pedal allowing Praze far more possession than we should have done. They played tidy football in the middle of the park but lacked the killer touch in the final third. We had chances to increase our lead but Mark Hampton hit the upright and I hit the cross bar from a header. We made the tie safe with about 10 to go when Craig and Jason played a 1-2 and Craig tapped it past the keeper. An enjoyable game where both teams tried to get the ball down and play football. The young ref did ok although at times went with who shouted loudest. Also gave a goal kick to Praze after a free kick hit two of their players going out for a corner. Even some of the Praze players looked a bit embarassed. Am sure he will grow in confidence with more games and experience under his belt. Thought the game might get abandoned with 5 mins to go after the ref fell to the floor clutching his back but he managed to soldier on. Kevin Waite Ali Birch Danny Taylor Jamie Wilkes Adam Martin Sanjay Vadgama Mark Hampton Matty Thomas Alex Monaghan Craig Rennard 3 Jason O'Sullivan MOM - Craig Rennard, Scored 3 in a game where we needed to be clinical D!@k of the day, The Praze sub for running on the pitch with his subs bib (our colours) still on
willser08 Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Illogan rbl 3rds 1 - 2 redruth utd reserves A patched up redruth and an Illogan side with a cup game on monday night made for a very pedestrian 1st half that didn't have the feeling of a local derby. Illogans main threat came from young winger, reece I think it was? He was afforded the freedom of Illogan park and from 20 yards out unleashed a fierce left foot drive that beat chris bolitho but rattled down off the bar and back into play. Redruth utd looked dangerous on the counter and brett adams had an effort cleared off the line, before morow, brett and callum all had efforts blocked and saved by a scrambling Illogan defence. The only real other talking point in the 1st half was when the Illogan striker (who got megged twice ) beat bolitho to the ball and got wiped out outside the box, luckily enough myself and mitchy showed unbelievable pace to get bk and ensure it was only a yellow for bolitho. After the goalless 1st half we were forced into a few changes and Redruth started the second half with a bit more purpose, the breakthrough came on about the hour mark when kyler letcher whipped over a corner, steve packenas challenged the keeper who couldn't collect and I pounced on the bouncing ball about 10 yards out n smashed it into the top corner. Things got better for redruth about 10 minutes later when half time substitute gareth fulcher whipped over a dangerous cross, this time the keeper made a complete hash of it and smokes was on hand to put the ball into an empty net via the post. Illogan made a few changes to try and get back into the game and their centre half (lee I think) was able to lose his marker and finish. I hope Illogan dont think this is an unfair assessment of the game but it was disappointing to not keep the clean sheet as it was as good a defensive display as we have put in and the free kick they scored from should have gone to us before hand. The referee had an absolute nightmare, totally inconsistent and definitely favouring the home side. I know Illogan were unhappy with a few of our linesman's decisions today but I can assure everyone Darren is far from a cheat, he calls it as he sees it and normally gets more abuse from our side than the opposition so for the ref to continually over rule him was baffling!!! Have to say after some difficult results in recent weeks was a cracking team display but I want to single out zak letcher for a mention, phenomenal display at right back today and joined in going forward too. Also superb effort from kyler and morow who worked hard to make things happen. Chris bolitho zak letcher Greg Wills x 1 matt Mitchell darren lewarne (gareth fulcher) Smokes x1 (kevin) steve pakenas Callum salmon kyler letcher morow brett adams (nigel) Man of the match (for me) zak letcher

Droid Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Div 2 Portleven 0 Frogpool 2 Scorers Bawden, Booker. This game was played on the main pitch in front of a few people dotted around the ground. Perfect pitch and weather greeted both sides. Frogpool had a few changes to their side Jason Hotly Holt came back into the side and played centre back, Dan Teubert played on the left wing and Danny Munday played in central midfield. Portleven had a few young players with some older heads in amongst them. The game started with Frogpool passing the ball around well and building attacks from the back. They were closed down well by the energetic young Porthleven striker. As the half went on chances started to come, Lasseter played a ball into Munday who released Ten Legs through into the box he delayed his shot and it was well defended by a Porthleven defender who slid in to deflect his shot. Bawden put over a corner for Reburn to hit on the volley it went over the bar much to the amusement of the Carlsbery drinking locals. Lasseter had a free kick pushed over the bar , Porthleven had two shots well saved by Ian Jay in goal. Half time 0:0 The second half saw Frogpool have most of the ball but Porthleven playing on the counter attack. With the game needing a change the manager brought on Lee Booker up front and played Reburn on the left. A corner was put in by Bawden and Booker challenged for it and the ball went in the far post. No one new he had scored in the end it was given to Bawden straight from a corner. The second goal was a great one, some nice interplay between Delaney, Munday and Lasseter saw Lasseter float a ball over the full backs head for Booker to run on to, he let it come over his shoulder and hit a diaganoal half volley straight into the corner. A great finish and important goal scored by a player who had missed a few games as well. That was the decisive goal in our eyes but Porthleven still kept closing down and hitting us on the break, they have dome good players and have to play a few teams around us as well. Well reffed on the whole, he was very serious but got most decision spot on. On to the next game.
stokefan1 Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Camborne park 5-0 Helston athletic 3rds.... A big game in Trelawny 4 yesterday, Unbeaten league leaders camborne park vs a in for Helston 3rds unbeaten in last 12 in all competitions winning 11 of those! after seeing Helston on monday night we knew they were gonna be a hard nut to crack, and all pressure was on us, at our ground, beating them early in season and also only needing 10 points to win league outright! We had a full squad despite missing 2 front-line players due to injury and work commitments, but think Helston would agree we dominated the game from start to finish! Helston only making our keeper make one save of any note. We should of taken the lead in first minute our winger hitting bar from close range after we got in behind helston's defence early, after 15 minutes Michael Catterall brilliantly beat Helston's keeper martyn webster from edge of box, and it was 1-0 nearly until half-time, when our attacking line opened up helston defence again and pete norfolk lifting it over the advancing keeper for 2-0 half time score-line. Our manager gave simple advice same again, and first 10 minutes helston came out the blocks quicker but a 3rd goal on counter attack scored by norfolk seemed to deflate them, we used our whole 5 subs on bench and another goal soon came from the spot. Jordan knuckey on wing was brought down in box, defender malcolm nicholls sent keeper wrong way 4-0! a bit of gloss came on score right at end when strikers catterall and grasso linked again with grasso taking it around the keeper before rolling it into an empty net 5-0 full-time. Huge win for us as a squad and a club, best complete performance of year and felt never in danger from minute 1 that we were gonna lose any points, good luck to rob and his side for rest season, and never know maybe cup final meeting! 7 more points needed for us huge game at i believe toughest place in division too go and win Gwinear! roll on wednesday

ballsax Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Div 1 St Ives 0-2 West Cornwall Difficult place to go and take points away. St Ives one of the better footballing sides in our league. Tough nut to crack. Looked a cast iron 0-0 for most of the game but a cracking Ian Chatfield free kick, after the gaffer shuffled his pack and put him from centre half to centre forward, put us ahead. Then Chatfield pounced on an underhit back pass in the last couple of minutes to extend our lead. St Ives put one over just after which could of made it nervy at the end but it was all but the last kick of the game! All the best to St Ives for the rest of the season!
peggy78 Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Trelawny 2 Storm 4 (1) Mullion Res 1 (1) A spate of injuries, work-related absences and a badly timed 30th birthday meant both Storm teams took to their matches with the bare 11. Things got off to a good start as Will Annear raced clear down the right in the opening minutes and slammed the ball past the Mullion keeper. With the Clijah bobble in full effect, as well as us playing into a strong wind, fluent football was proving difficult. Mullion got a lot of time and space in the middle of the park but lacked the final ball through, whilst we were unable to make the most of a few opportunities that came our way. Kellow was also unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty as he was brought down but the ref adjudged it to have been outside the area. As the half went on, Mullion started to get more and more possession and with about 40 on the clock they got their reward as their striker was able to take advantage of some poor, and slightly comical defending. They also forced keeper, Craig Allen, in to a couple of smart saves. The second half saw a far improved display, with Mitchell and Will "Hollywood" Annear looking dangerous wide and Charlton, Kellow and Chilman getting more involved . That said, Mullion had their chances in the 2nd half, with Collins providing a goal-line block and Allen called in to action. When Mitchell found himself through on goal, he was unable to get the shot away due to the overkeen attentions of the defender. At the third pull, the ref blew his whistle and pointed to the spot. Up stepped Chilman to try and convert but he didn't quite have the placement and the spot kick came back out off the keepers knees. He made amends for the miss later on though, bagging himself a goal from a good piece of attacking play. Kellow had several chances before finally slotting home for the goal that his all around play merited. The scoring was completed by Mitchell, bagging his 6th goal in 3 games, when he latched on to a forward pass and slid the ball in at the far post. Pleasing result and performance given how thinly we were stretched today. Well played to the Mullion lads and the game was excellently reffed by Neil Harvey. Good luck to Mullion for the rest of the season

Was nice to have a real field to play on and decent weather as well. Set the side out to play on the break and if we could have found that final ball we may well have had a chance. In the end that second goal killed us. I was right behind it and what a fine strike it was. Thought the ref was spot on, one of the best we have had this season. I would like to thank frogpool for leaving the changing rooms in such a great condition. Those who run Port have all commented on it. Thanks I wish more teams would show that kind of respect. See you all again May 10th.

Guest Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Wendron 1 Gwinear 5 Gwinear had a point to prove today after a disappointing run. With the loss to Helston midweek and then having to concede the points to Marazion aswell due to a lack of players, we knew we had to go to Wendron and battle for a result. It's been tough for Gwinear this season, we are yet to have the same starting 11 for two consecutive games. Too many personal and work commitments have meant a huge squad rotation system for the Gwinear OAPs, which has meant it's been difficult to bond as a squad and get that consistency that comes with playing with the same people each week. But, as always, we try to battle on. There's not really a great deal to say about this game, I think Wendron will admit it should have been double figures for us but some good goalkeeping, the bar and post playing a part four times and some narrowly missed shots ensured the scoreline remained respectable. In all, Wendron were beaten by the speed of the attacking players and the power and ability of the central midfielders along with some very good defending, our keeper didn't really make a save and was rarely called into action. That's not saying the Wendron strike force were bad, it was because our defence was solid. Some good finishing and a point to prove secured this game for Gwinear. Hopefully we will have a strong side to face leaders Camborne Park on Wednesday, but also against Gulval tomorrow. I must admit though, it's a bit frustrating that we have park on Wednesday but neither us nor them have a fixture for Sunday. If the league had any sense at all, they would have relieved the pressure on the sides by either scheduling games from the rediculous backlog for both teams for Saturday or moved the Gulval game to Wednesday and the park game to Saturday, We questioned it but were told no. Where's the sense in that?!? Both teams would have agreed. Difficult to understand that. Wendron are a very young side and had some very tidy players. They were beaten by experiemce today, I'd hazard a guess to say the majority of their side were on Easter holiday. Gwinear have some very experienced players within their ranks and that showed. Some very good individual players at Wendron who, if they stay and get the level of coaching that Wendron are rebound for, they'll be banging on the senior teams' door in a few seasons. A good game played in fantastic spirits, with both sets of players having a good chat, laugh and a joke which is how it should be in these divisions.... Fun. The pitch was also in good condition and was nice to play on. Gwinear Scorers: Chrissy W Dave B x4

A good game played in fantastic spirits, with both sets of players having a good chat, laugh and a joke which is how it should be in these divisions.... Fun. The pitch was also in good condition and was nice to play on. Gwinear Scorers: Chrissy W Dave B x4 How can your reserve team play when your firsts couldn't raise a side?
Michelle mallaber Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 I would like to thank frogpool for leaving the changing rooms in such a great condition. Those who run Port have all commented on it. Thanks I wish more teams would show that kind of respect. Thanks for the kind comment. You are welcome. We like to leave facilities as we find them and would expect others to do the same when they come to us.
Titus Bramble Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Trelawny 2 Storm 4 (1) Mullion Res 1 (1) A spate of injuries, work-related absences and a badly timed 30th birthday meant both Storm teams took to their matches with the bare 11. Good luck to Mullion for the rest of the season Link to the photos taken by Daniel Rule during this game - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.689121107811852.1073741856.590144044376226&type=1
Guest Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Wendron 1 Gwinear 5 Gwinear had a point to prove today after a disappointing run. To be completely honest with you, the club were unaware of the rule which states that the first team games must be played ahead of the reserve team games (Maybe that sounds a bit naiive, but, that's what happened). Anyone that follows Gwinear on Facebook will realise that they've only just found the rule out. Quite a few of us never, although the rule does make sense as the first team games should always take precedence over reserve team games, were not aware that this rule was in place until the fine came through the door and the points deducted.
stokefan1 Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Camborne park 5-0 Helston athletic 3rds.... 7 more points needed for us huge game at i believe toughest place in division too go and win Gwinear! roll on wednesday well played Camborne. ..not the best footballing side we have played this season but certainly play and work as a team ...can see why they are where they are. Also can see why they concede so few goals...very organised and solid at the back. We were poor and too many players went hiding. Now to see how we bounce back Very honest opinion, you have a bunch of very talented lads, just maybe sometimes wasn't willing to put the body on the line like a few others! We do base our team on being very strong defensively and having a very quick, clinical front-line, If you work hard as a team you get rewards i guess! but i am sure your lads will bounce back and finish strongly and possibly maybe a cup final meeting besst of luck rest season
