The Big Bad Fox Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Interesting to get a players perspective on the best/worst club linesman you've had this season? I've seen a fair few games this season and feel that there is a huge difference from the best to the worst. Fairplay to everyone that runs the line for their club, not the most popular job.
Dave Deacon Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Not so sure we should bother with the worst. Let's praise the best, the others not mentioned then know what level they have to aspire to!
Tom Blewett Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Bigbadfox you have good points in this and bad. I have seen these sort of posts before and they have ended in very heated debates. Not really fair to single out people think everyone makes mistakes and without a club linesman who does cracking jobs throughout the league, we would have no such league
bighairydave Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Have to say Jamie Stephens at Ludgvan and Adrian Waters at St Day must be up there with the best!
peggy78 Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Have to say Jamie Stephens at Ludgvan and Adrian Waters at St Day must be up there with the best! And both of them are thoroughly nice guys too
skyblueref Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Have to say Jamie Stephens at Ludgvan and Adrian Waters at St Day must be up there with the best!can't argue with that mate. I've always said they'd be amongst my 1st choice lino's.
cornish soccer fan Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Job done then!!!!! Thats that pointless question answered....
chesterfield Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Worst In east Cornwall few years back played against kilkhampton and also few years back against saltash
playmaker Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Bude town in the cswpl bold fella done there line in ecpl aswell #pants
CoachKT Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Bude town in the cswpl bold fella done there line in ecpl aswell #pants That would be Steve Box (Snr)... I've always found him pretty fair to be honest (from the ECPL days and again on Wednesday night against us at Holsworthy)...couple of questionable offsides flagged for but then again so did our lino
CoachKT Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Best and fairest for me would have to be John Cole (formerly of Plymouth Parkway Reserves and now Vospers Oak Villa).
Webbz Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Have to say pointers I can't agree with the statement you have made there. Having played for and against hayle combo. Steve is genuinely a top bloke and a good linesman! The leagues need more men like Steve around! I agree with dave that this post should concentrate on the positives
Doogle Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Nanpeans is very bad, shame seeing as hes an ex player, should have more idea!!!
pointers Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Well your entitled to your opinion pal, just like I am, I'd have to disagree mind you, and that's why we like a forum like this to have debates! The chap who does st Agnes line is good, did he move clubs? While we are on the subject what about referees? I've seen a few new faces who are very good, and a few of the old ones still doing a great job, a thankless job in which you can never be correct!! Yet they turn up again the following fixture, I must say I could never do it but I think we need to start showing a bit more appreciation for them!
stevieb Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Worst has to be the Hayle Lino..... He is terrible ha ha ,,,,,,,,,,, oh hell it's me ,,pointers thanks for your vote of no confidence ,it upset me so much , I might not be the best have never said I am , but I give my time up freely no money all weathers , just try to put something back into the game I love , as I am to old to play and got fed up with managing , I enjoy watching our young side play , I have broad shoulders and have been called a peado , cheat , c,,,, threatened with violence and constant chirping by players and fans , would you do it ? Also pointers I don't hide behind a nickname. , Stevie b is short for Steve bailey So what ever I post people know me you are right to an opinion as is everyone , but have a go yourself or seek me out at a game face to face I am not hard to miss ,ha ha , I try my best and as all players know we have good games and bad games , but if my best is not good enough for your high standards , please feel free to give up your spare time and relieve me of the grief I get at some games , as when I was a player and a manager when some one better wants to take over I have always stepped a side and have no problems doing so now , there are some great people out there running the line giving up time and money to do a thankless task , look forward to your next post. Behind your mask

ScottyBlade. Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Pointers... Suprise suprise having a dig at something / someone to do with Hayle. Grow up.
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Any lino is allowed a mistake, some don't know the laws - some do. When the lino continually flags, rightly or wrongly I prefer to call them reliable.
pointers Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Relax Scotty, I've nothing against Hayle at all, I have no reason to. I'm just having my say which is just an opinion.
Grant Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 I remember when I ran the line for the newquay first team when I was out after my back operation. I got all the names under the sun in one game by a bench and I didn't give an offside against their team all game. Just throws and corners haha. Also remember getting loads of stick at an away game for flagging a player offside as he returned to the pitch from running off the goal line then coming back to tap in a rebound! Same game I gave a really blatant offside - about 5 metres and the home fans were moaning like mad. I said to them, you can't tell me that wasn't offside? To which they replied- that one was but the others weren't!! I said so why are u moaning at that decision? You can't win and I wouldn't do it for no amount of money! Stick at it Steve. On a positive note I had a very good game with respect from the players when I ran the line at St Austell
unitedrhino2 Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Doogle, I find it unbelievable that you feel Nanpean Linesmen is that bad, it would be nice to hear what team you represent, so I can also give a comment.
stevieb Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 Relax Scotty, I've nothing against Hayle at all, I have no reason to. I'm just having my say which is just an opinion. still hiding behind your mask pointers , ? Make yourself known as others have commented on the forum and privately to me we would all like to know who you are or what club you support ? Or are you just a keyboard warrior ? Still no problem with your comment but man up and put your name out there or perhaps you can't handle the flack ? , on another note last night had a laugh about same post of yours as Jody from Troon came up to me and said he was pointers , lightened the evening before kick off , this is what football is about good old fashioned banter , even had my leg pulled by the players about offside after the game and I was only one from the club in their bar , and put my hands up to one where I flagged to early went to put flag down but ref had already blown , see can admit my mistakes
stevieb Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 Have to say Jamie Stephens at Ludgvan and Adrian Waters at St Day must be up there with the best! two of the best and good fun as well off the pitch
Deadcert Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 Worst lino, is the one that gives you nothing! Best lino the one that gives you everything! They will know who they are
