bluenose Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Div 4Marazion Res 8-1 Praze ResOpening 20 mins there was very little between the teams as both played good football and created good opportunities to open the scoring. It was Marazion that broke the deadlock after Matty Thomas hit the upright, the Praze defence failed to clear properly and the ball fell to Jason O'Sullivan on the edge of the box to curl it in beyond the diving keeper. It wasn't long before we grabbed a second. As the Praze players disputed a freekick in the middle of the park with the referee, Steve Hunt took it quickly and chipped a lovely ball over the Praze defence for Craig Rennard to run on to. He controlled it in mid air, did a couple of kick ups before cooly passing it past the on-rushing keeper. Straight from kick off we won the ball back and attacked down the right hand side. Liam Mooney cut inside and unleashed a left foot shot which squeezed past the keeper at the near post. We were looking comfortable at this stage but then our achilles heel came back to haunt us. After giving away a corner, their centre half who had been having a stormer of a game, got a yard on his marker (Steve Hunt)and headed over Kevin in goal. 3rd goal we have conceded from corners in the last two games. 3-1 at half time.Second half was all Marazion as we found holes in the Praze back line. Jason got his second, beating the keeper at his near post after a nice one, two. Matty then scored the goal of the game, receiving the ball on the edge of the area, switching the ball onto his left foot and rifling it into the top corner, leaving the keeper no chance. Sanjay Vadgama then got on the score sheet scoring our sixth. The ball came to him wide on the left and with the ball on his right foot, he thought better of it and used the outside of his left to curl it into the corner. Adam Caul stroked home a penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way after Jason had been brought down and Liam completed the rout late on from close range. A good game played in the way it should be. Credit to Praze, they continued to play football til the final whistle.Tough game tomorrow night against the old enemy.....Gwinear.Kevin WaiteAli BirchDanny TaylorAdam Caul 1Adam MartinSanjay Vadgama 1Liam Mooney 2Steve HuntMatty Thomas 1Jason O'Sullivan 2Craig Rennard 1SubsScott JamesAlex MonaghanMOM - Steve Hunt, controlled the game and kept us tickingD!@k of the day - The manager, telling Matty to push up front 20 mins after he had already done it, good observational skills Stevie!!!!
