Trelawny Dunn Cup: FT @IlloganRbl Res 1 St Buryan 5

Went to watch as a neutral today. Illogan will admit they weren't at the races today. Not to take anything away from St Buryan who over 90 mins were the better side.

The visitors went 2-0 within the first 20 mins which included a superb overhead kick past keeper Alan Buckley.

The first half was very competitive with both sides playing some attractive football throughout.

HT 0-2

Coming out after the interval St Buryan scored again on 50' minute. League leaders Illogan didn't want to fold and managed to pull one back after a well executed play across the box.

Illogan sensing a come back pushed forward and attacked the oppositions back line. A shot on target was saved but unfortunately by a St Buryan defender. I saw it clearly by half way line, but not by the match official. It's funny how some decisions go your way one week and not the next.

St Buryan pushed forward and took a shot outside of the box which went straight into the back of the Illogan net. Unfortunately for Alan it was just at the same time I took a photo (below).

With time running out I moved around the side of the pitch. Said to Alan there was 30 seconds left on normal time and then St Buryan came at Illogan again taking a chip towards goal. Landing right into the goal. 5-0, looked at the clock with one second to go.

Despite the result it was actually a competitive match. But credit were it is due to St Buryan for getting through to the next round.

Camborne park 7-0 Mousehole 3rds

Real top bunch at mousehole, 2nd week played them in a row now! was big game for us after seeing couple title rivals drop points in midweek when we wasn't in action!!!

So today was important after working out we needed 13 points from our remaining games to be league champions and for 30 minutes today didn't look like whatever we did wasnt't gonna find way past mousehole keeper! But a goal on 35 minutes put us 1-0 up after tons of pressure keeping mousehole pinned back in their own half, and a killer blow for them on stroke half-time we found a 2nd 2-0 up at half-time.

2nd half, 5 unanswered goals and one way traffic could of been double figures mousehole having only one chance of real note well saved by our keeper from close range, all 16 players got good gametime for us which will be good for future run of fixtures, 3 more points and now huge game next saturday when we host a in form helston :)

Great time after in club think mousehole keeper however great he played needs downing a drink practice, top bunch loads good laugh and banter during and after game best luck rest of season have some tidy players and sure you,ll pick up points before end season

Redruth reserves 1 Frogpool 8

Scorers James Ribery Reburn 6, Richie Ward,Alex Bawden

A heavy pitch at Clijah made this look like it would be a very scrappy game but it didn't turn out that way. Redruth looked to have a strong side out as the teams lined up. Ian Jay went in goal for Lee Booker and Danny Munday came in for the absent partying Jason Hotly Holt.

The first fifteen minutes was pretty much all Redruth with them linking up well and getting down the flanks they had a lot of the ball and looked dangerous in the final third. Redruth had a shot cleared off the line by Rowan and that was crucial when it was 0-0. Frogpool scored the first goal which was a great solo goal by James Reburn who picked the ball up went round three players and smashed the ball in the roof of the net. Redruth equalised quickly with a good bit of passing and a hard shot went passed Ian Jay.

The second was a great goal when the ball was played rough to Alex Bawden inside the box who calmly finished to the keepers left.

The third goal was again a great solo effort by Reburn who picked the ball up jinked past a few Redruth defenders and stroked the ball past the Redruth keeper.

The forth was a tap in by Richie Ward playing for us from our seconds, he capitalised when the Redruth keeper who normally has a great games against us,spilled the ball from a cross and Richie poked the ball home from close range.

The remaining four goals were scored by Ribery Reburn being put through by Carter, Bawden and ten legs I think. who played a great defence splitting pass Reburn calmly finished. The keeper was left exposed for the remaining three Reburn goals and each chance was scored taking Reburns goal Tally to 27 goals an outstanding peformance by him today. Richie Ward came close with a header from a set piece sent over by Lasseter. Danny Munday played in central midfield and had a great all round game as did Richie Ward who held the ball up well and worked very hard all game.

Redruth are a good side and I think they will give some of the other teams around the top five a real game. One man made the difference today and that was James Ribery Reburn.

The game was played in a good spirit with some strong tackles and both sides just got on with it. Glad to get this one out the way

Arthur Pearce Cup - Quarter Final

St Agnes 3rds 2-3 Marazion Res

Playing a team a division above was always going to be difficult but when seeing the state of the pitch it was clear we weren't going to be playing much football. The goal mouths especially looked like something out of Armageddon. Neither side really dominated the first half although St Agnes did open the scoring half way through the half when an in swinging corner was headed in by probably the smallest player on the pitch.

1-0 down at half time we weren't really panicking as we were creating chances. Second half didn't really get much better for us and we went 2-0 down direct from a corner assisted with a strong wind. A change was made and it seemed to do the trick. A deep in swinging corner from Steve Hunt was met by my head which beat the keeper and the defender on the line. Had to thank Adam Caul for his block on my marker which allowed me a free header. Within a few minutes we were level when good work down the right resulted in a shot saved by the Aggie keeper which fell nicely for Jason O'Sullivan who had a simple tap in. St Agnes were always dangerous on the counter but we had control of the game and took the lead with about 15 to go when following a ball over the top, the keeper and defender hesitated allowing Craig Rennard to nip in and head the ball over them and tap into an open net. Both teams had a few chances but no more goals.

Glad to be through to the semis but a hard game awaits against West Cornwall. Game was well reffed and the St Agnes lads were a decent bunch.

Storm 9 (5) Illogan 3rds 3 (1)

Hoping to have turned the corner after a poor recent run. Great work ethic across the park and some decent football played on a heavy Clijah pitch. Went 1-0 down early after Illogan hit us on the counter but parity was quickly restored when David Mitchell smashed home from a tight angle. Kellow, Mitchell and a Chilman brace then gave us a solid lead going in to the break.

Didn't quite get back up to speed in the 2nd half and conceded thanks to a Bevington own goal. Chilman completed his hatrick with a fine individual run and finish and Mitchell stabbed home to complete his. As the tempo slowed more, and injuries starting to take their toll, Illogan snatched a third as a defensive header was missed high in our half allowing the Illogan striker to run through 1 on 1 and finish. With the seconds ticking down, Kellow managed to hit a quickfire double to complete his hatrick and finish off the scoring.

Currently with the Illogan man who scored 2 goals... Definitely not an own goal he's saying.. Was on target! Ha..

Dunn Cup Quarter Final

Holmans 3-3 Mawnan AET . Mawnan win 5-4 on penalties.

A topsy turvey game with the lead changing hands a number of times throughout the first 90 minutes.

Mawnan led 1-0 at half time, but Holmans took a 2-1 lead 15 minutes into the second half. Mawnan woke up again and with 20 to go were 3-2 ahead, but Holmans were still not to be denied and equalised to make it 3-3.

Onto extra time, both teams had chances though Mawnan had the better of it, hitting the woodwork twice.

And so onto penalties, and some of the best penalties I have seen at this level. The first 9 penalties all scored, with the keeper having no chance. With Mawnan 5-4 ahead, the Holmans 5th taker again hit a good penalty, but this time the keeper got a hand to it and tipped it onto the bar.

The second penalty shoot out victory for Mawnan this season sees them into the semi final against a strong St Buryan side

Think that sums the game up quite well to be honest.

We weren't 5-1 worse than them with some some key moments not going our way, especially the Penalty shout which was a stone waller just as we were getting back into it and that would have made it 2-3 but we didn't get it and they certainly deserved the victory so no complaints here.
