stevieb Posted August 11, 2014 Report Share Posted August 11, 2014 Mangle chambers has done fantastic in preseason , but meritezacker will not be ready as he comes back today , so another centre back is needed for competition , young chambers is the future and he seems a good buy but he will probably be used sparingly in his first season at the club , unless there is a hidden gem inside the club? Mangle Posted August 11, 2014 Report Share Posted August 11, 2014 Nah. Vermaelen hardly played at all the last 12 months, and the 6 months before that when he was playing, not very good. He went off the boil - shame, always thought he was a good player. Chambers can "cover" that kind of player easily. In fact, so could most other players in the team. stevieb Posted August 11, 2014 Report Share Posted August 11, 2014 Yes he did not play much over the last season but that was due to merts/ kos partnership plus injuries , which when he came back he was not the same , good player when he arrived but has gone off the boil , glad he snubbed utd and good luck to him at barca , good fee as well with only 1year left on his contract , and barca have now paid of approx a third of the emirates for us after all the players they have signed, but all top teams need four centre backs for cover so at present we have merts, kos, and chambers not sure of Miguel so one more needed , and a bustling centre mid to break up play and help the back four then perhaps we can dream of future trophies ?
