Slow down you melts. All this chitter chatter about ref's is too much, they already think it's all about themselves. All this what was the ref like today with the ref asking the question. Well listen to this, people don't go to a football match to watch the ref. it's the one's who want to be talked about after that ruin it cause they'll make controversial decisions to get what they want, making the game all about them. The ones that go unnoticed are the best ones who aren't bothered about being talked about. Yeah you can't play the game without them, but you can't play the game without goalposts either so let's talk about them for a change can we? Melts

One of the corner flags was rubbish the other week, kept falling down and tried to come on the forum and blame it all on the high winds.

I had a team moan about the ball in the Junior Cup last season, it kept finding its way into their goal.

.....plenty more where that came from ....... :-)

Only the law makers can move the goalposts.

I have come across many good refs in my time in local football. Three that have stood out on numerous occasions are Al Johns, Neil Hunnisett and Martin Smith. Professional at all times and they are approachable. Firm but fair, the way it should be.

being long in the tooth can bex explain what melts means ?

We probably don't want to know - I rather suspect it's not flattering.

probably you are right but why post it ?

It seems as though we are not going to get an answer to this question stevieb. Perhaps it's just as well.

Possibly Ben, however while I fully support the moderators on keeping foul and abusive language off of this forum I am a little concerned that they are censoring links to external sites which are neither illegal or immoral.

Maybe it was your warning of immoderate language which alerted Dave to it, but it was still a valid post attempting to answer a serious(ish) question.

Unsurprisingly, my link was deleted.. apologies.

Well I am surprised. I'm glad that I got to it before it disappeared. I can't see anything wrong with a link to the Urban Dictionary, particularly when it educates a bunch of oldies like Stevieb, Keith B and me.

Unless they were quick they'll just have to look it up themselves.

the polite one was man up one was drug related the other from memory was well rude cheers bex for not replying as you are probable feeling embarressed for confusing us older gentlemen , but in truth elder has made me aware of the URBAN DICTIONARY ,so now i can educate myself on this new language thats seems to be spreading on the forum like coys as i had to be explained to me on a differnt posting about bloody spurs ha ha , glad we have had some positive postings about refs for a change and keep up the good work all posters and the refs who without there would be no football for us to enjoy and also moan about.

Well, there you go Stevieb, another day closes and we find ourselves not only older but a touch wiser too.

With thanks to the suddenly quiet Bex who endeavoured to confound us in the first place and the obviously cool dude Ben the Yeti who pointed us in the right direction. Thanks guys.

I trust that none of us will need to use the M word to describe referees ever again. Well, that is except...........
