cornishteddyboy
Perranwell v Troon Troon offered to reverse the fixture but Perranwell refused. Pitch inspection at Troon this morning by a referee says pitch is in perfect condition to play apart a bit of forking needed in one goal mouth. pointers
Is that a joke CTB...!!? Surly if you've got a ref, a playable pitch and x2 teams this game should happen!!!!!! This was my last hope of watching a decent game today, what's left on in the SW??! The league should step in here and enforce games to be played if the facilities is there, no doubt there will be moaning when games pile up towards the end of the season!!! Clubman
The decision whether a game goes ahead is solely the responsibility of the appointed referee, or a local referee of the level required for that particular league. If the situation arose where leagues started to dictate whether games go ahead, I'm sure you would lose more officials because they would not want to risk any one's safety when in their opinion the conditions are unfit. Phil_Ellis
Perranwell v Troon Troon offered to reverse the fixture but Perranwell refused. Pitch inspection at Troon this morning by a referee says pitch is in perfect condition to play apart a bit of forking needed in one goal mouth. How can this be reversed Troon have already hosted perranwell this season?
mrlaw18
I think what CTB is trying to say is play the Perranwell v Troon fixture at Troon as if it was played at Perranwell and Perranwell paying the ref fees. This sounds reasonable if the pitch has been reported as being safe to play on. Refusing to play when there is a playable pitch available, OK in a different post code, should not be an option. Games will just pile up at the end of season which means playing two to three games a week.
Jamo
I can also see what phil_ellis is saying, if Troon have already played perranwell at their ground this season , why should perranwell give up their right to home advantage in the reverse fixture
mrlaw18
home advantage? lol
Jamo
Why are laughing at home advantage? How many teams beat Perran at home? Think it's a fair comment
mrlaw18
Yeah sorry was a fair a comment. Just that at this level that is not much of an advantage and if the game could have been played then it should be played. The result would still be the same whether in Perranwell or Troon. Football is a team sport not a location sport.
Smithy
Perran used to playing week in week out on their pitch with the slope so I agree with jamo their on home advantage to perran-I wouldn't want to give up that advantage
Jamo
Thank you smithy, it's the same going to st just etc, happy to take a point away, but on your home ground it's a diff game, shame any game is cancelled I agree! But as a manager do u give up your home game with a high chance of 3 points or reverse the fixture to away just to please 9 fans and a dog that may come and watch
kempy
But as i am Perranwells secretary i was told nothing from Troon about reversing the fixture !!! We have already played away at Troon ... ?? And most of our players prefer to play away ( as i did )

isaac rosenberg
Interesting to read Mr Law's view on home advantage,,,,,for my own club, over half a century, home advantage makes a difference of around 25 per cent to results. In only 8 seasons out of 50 have St Just performed better away than at home. For other clubs, e.g. Wendron, venue makes almost no difference at all when their whole time in the Combo is considered ! Thanks to CTB for his excellent statistical information.
