Charity Shirt / Kit Project - Season 2013 / 2014

Recommended Posts

As 2013 draws to a close, and with it the first half of the football season, I think this is a good time to update you how my charity sports shirts / kit project is going.

So far, thanks to the generosity of clubs, organisations and individuals from Cornwall to the North of Scotland it is proving a great success.

Approx 400 shirts plus shorts, socks, coats, tracksuit tops and children’s clothing have already been sent out to Africa. This includes kit from Bedfont Sports, Cullompton Athletic, Heavitree United, Knaphill, Plymouth Argyle Supporters Association (London Branch), Saltash United and St Stephens Borough along with countless individual donations from across Cornwall, Devon, the London area and Scotland.

This has gone in the main to the Gift on New Football Academy (GONFA) in Banjul, The Gambia and Soccer Youth Academy of Intwari, Burundi (www.akarusho.org) via Kits4causes.

In addition to that a large donation from Garnock Rugby Club was collected by LV= SOS Kit Aid from Kirkintilloch for distribution to worthy causes.

I still have donations of kit from Dunipace, Grangemouth Boys Club & Kilbirnie Ladeside at my flat which will go out early 2014.

Christmas sees me on 23rd December collecting donations from Saltash Rugby Club and Tamar Trotters, 26th December picking up the St Teath donation and 28th December visiting Exwick Villa for their donation. This will be added to the donations from Saltash School, Saltash United Juniors and St Nicholas & St Faith Church currently waiting for me in Saltash.

As for 2014? Well there are 10 bags of kit from Crediton United to collect for a start!! Then there are donations from Lochee Harp and Rothes to collect from Kirkintilloch and a donation from Auchinleck Talbot to come.

AIG will be holding a dress down day in their UK offices, there will be collection at the Manchester City Supporters Club, London Branch, AGM, and there are other ongoing collections,

It promises to be a busy last half of the season and yes I will still be contacting clubs, organisations & individuals asking for support!

In conclusion, thanks to everyone who has donated so far and I would ask that any club, player, official or supporter who can help in anyway to contact me. Remember it is not just football and it is not just shirts. If in doubt, donate!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
