Lowest ranked side to win the Senior Cup?

The 1997 Final saw Nanpean Rovers of the ECPL, lose 1-2 in a replay against Falmouth Town

In fact they should have won it as in the first game they rounded the Falmouth keeper only to hit the upright late in the game.

You're correct, I watched that game .... Nanpean should have won it. Almost the last kick if I remember correctly.

It was Jerry Solomon the Nanpean striker who must have had a sleepless night

soloman was unstoppable that season. the nanpean side of 1997 had gary penhaligon in goal if I stand correct, I was playing for padstow at the time and they beat us 4-3 with gary penhaligon saving two penalties, think they went on to win the ecpl league that year too.

Alan craddock at nanpean showed me there team photos from back then and he said how good the 97 team was and he mentioned Neil burton, Eric Giles and Chris hawke. Saying how good they were. I never really got to see them in there hay day so can't say.

The Nanpean squad for the Final-

Gary Penhaligon-Paul Kendall-Mike Quest-Neil Burton-Andy Batt-Phil Key-Gary Dyer-Steve Roberts-Kevin Best-Nick Isbell-Jerry Solomon-Mark Ratcliffe-Alistair Milton-Alan Hughes-Mike Sleeman-Darren Key.

One of the best Saltash (Western league) 0-1 Penzance, don't you love it Tommy (Matthews), I think Dave Wadd talked us throuh it! complete with breakfast, lunch and a 2 hour team talk, but what a day

Yep I'll never forget that one Al, no one gave us a chance until Eno Udo popped up and scored. On the day we deserved our win and the medal is still in a box in the loft!

Merry Christmas mate!
