Well done Nanpean, first point of the season.

St Stephens Borough starting to grind out results now with a good work ethic and some excellent football.. The footballing team won yesterday against a aggressive Roche team that can't play football and solely rely on strength and a long ball. They shot themselves in the foot with constant moaning and arguing with the ref both players and the manager (that also continued to verbally abuse the linesman for any decision that didn't go their way),this seemed to sway the referee to some degree in favour of the team that was their to actually play football and football finally prevailed

Truth talker I don't think u know wot u are talking about it was a game wind ball not football yesterday I think we have got a good case to moan at the ref we should of had a penalty and he was defo all for Boro.we had a perfectly good goal not given wen it cross the line by 12inchs Boros Lino done a lot of cheating he was laughing about it.

As for league rules there was no dugouts. I counted 6 plastic post all on 1 side of the pitch in 1 half with some rope tied on it,

We had to walk a mile from the changing rooms

Basically the place is a shit hole

Oh and no refreshments at half time

Shouldn't be allowed in the league but well done on the 3 points yesterday

I don't recall any penalty shout and your case of the Ball crossing the line by 12 inches was that before or after the Roche player kicked the borough keeping in the ribs?

Also was the spectator area not big enough for all of the Roche fans?

I'm sure the linesman was laughing at your entire coaching staff moaning and crying because the game wasn't going in Roches favour not the fact that he was cheating in any way?

Nothing like being gracious in defeat, some individuals in the roche team didn't even feel the need to shake hands after the game. Good to see the league's respect campaign is going well.

The wind must of been against you like the ref then Babos. Very sore loser. You have a half decent team, physical and organised with a good defence, it gets you results. You're found out when up against good footballing sides. Didn't come near Meva when they beat you, and you'll lose at least another 4 games this season. Hopefully the posts around the pitches might protect you and the halftime refreshments help with any extra effort given having to walk to the pitch. If you hadn't of been worrying about trivial things you might of got a result.

Don't feel victimised both times Meva beat them some of the Roche players refused to shake hands after the game, about time the league had a word, by the way good result for you. Well done.

Not a sore loser at all just would rather lose without any cheating goin on. It was before the keeper got kicked so It should of been a goal anyway it's gone now so good luck for the season I just hope the league committee can do something about all the league rules being broken. It's more like junior football now adays the standered has dropped loads especially facilities at most grounds now not like it was.the rules are the same as they were years ago

Babos you are showing yourself and your team up on here aren't you? If I was your manager or club secretary I wouldn't want one of my players talking they way you are. I have known borough for years and have never seen them accused of cheating before. Their Lino has helped us a few times and he wouldn't say boo to a goose let alone cheat! As for the "shit-hole" comment, you are a disgrace. Borough would admit they would like to have better facilities, but surely you can appreciate that the club has found an affordable alternative that enables the club to still play in the league rather than bankrupt themselves or be forced to play in the duchy leagues. I don't recall that the Roche pitch or facilities are the best around either so show a little more respect. As for not shaking hands after, it says a lot (which isn't that much) about players not doing that regardless of the result or the referee's apparent performance. It's squad v squad and that's who you are shaking hands with. Embarrassing.

Nath,

As far as I'm aware Babos is the Roche manager.

I have to say that it was just a typical ECPL match really.

I shook hands with several Roche players after the game, without issue.

They came back to the pub and put in for the raffle. Fair play.

Like yourself, my only issue would be the criticism of our certificated assistant. He"s a qualified referee and "too honest." i.e. he's very good.

Babos as got a point about the facilities that St Stephens Boro use, not good enough.

However Boro is a well run club and have some decent players and Team, in a ideal world they would have there own place, but they deserve to be in the league on Merit, so until they find a proper home we all have to put up with it.

Nanpean Rovers got there 1st point more interesting debate :)

Well done on your point v st.blazey unitedrhino, also as they had ringers in, looks like your improving.

Whats all this nonsense with boro v roche, some silly comments on here by babos and a few others, think you could all learn alot from andy wright, on the pitch and off!!

  1. I feel that Babos my have a valid point in respect of the standard of some of the pitches , Boroughs pitch is the worst in the league , they play senior football on and school pitch just good enough for duchy league .Away team changing room shared with the Referee , could be confrontational there!!!!. Nothing down by the pitch visiting supporters . Poor very poor.

He does, just describing it as a 'shit hole' means no one is really going to care what he has to say. The pitch is a decent size and flat, it's susceptible to heavy rain but most pitches are. As for the walk, yeah it's a fair way, but christ who cares, all in all it takes about 2 mins, half time refreshments? It's called a drink, bring your own and I suppose we need barriers to stop the massive crowd invading the pitch? Dugouts would be nice but it's not only Borough who does not have them, take those teams out and you'll have a very short playing season. In a perfect world every club would have excellent facilities, but they don't. Get over it and play football.

People need to remember the level we're talking here. No matter what people think of the "Senior" status, this is still grass roots football. There are far worse pitches than Boro's and,as has been said, they're here on merit. There are some clubs with good facilities who can't match the club spirit and hospitality Boro have. I don't recall Boro making a joke of the league by bringing ringers in week after week like some "big" clubs either....

There pitch can't be that bad as they played the game unlike tavi who's pitch is far far better yet our game against them was called off apparently because rain was forecast at 3pm I watched the Saltash game and there was no rain and pitch was fine !!! Tavi like to protect there pitch for the 1st team what at the moment are in the bottom 3 . Surely the 2nd team who are doing well this year should be before them and be able to play ? Boro is a great club and fair play to them for playing there games week in week out as that's what a sat is about playing football and a beer or 2 after

Polperro 1 Parkway 4. 2-1 at the break, but Parkway superb defensively second period against the gale and slope and worthy of their win, good side.

One of my players received a nasty gash to his ankle when blocking a shot during this game, which required 12 stitches. No blame attached, totally innocuous, but a nice touch by the Parkway player involved in asking for his number and contacting him with his best wishes. Well done Parkway, nice to see with all the rubbish spoken on here.

I assume Parkway are one of the "big clubs" that you are talking about with regards to "ringers?" To my knowledge , no players have appeared under assumed identities who have not been registered with the league .

Great result for Lanreath last week agains't Meva, that's wins again'st Fowey, Plymstock and the previously unbeaten Meva, but some strange results in between.

We are gradually building a good squad for both teams and have just submitted a planning application for state of the art changing facilities, things are on the up after a rocky season or two at Rally Park.
