Trelawny League Results 07 Dec 2013

Recommended Posts

As our result got posted (I'm Lanner manager) will make a comment more about our season rather than today. We reached the half way point of our league fixtures today which we didn't reach until about March last season due to the weather. Had a tough start and couldn't even put a team out for two pre-season fixtures so we've come along way. league position is 7th (W7, L7, D1) and overall with cups (W9, L8, D1) so a good effort as our first seven games were away from home. Got a great bunch of lads which we have to rotate sometimes through work commitments etc. Would like to thank them for their efforts so far this season and hope we can do even better for the second half of the season. Special mention for Gareth Ireson who made his debut today as he's just turned 16 and got his first run-out. Youngsters and other players always welcome (especially from Lanner who have in the past gone somewhere else) as we need to look to the future as well as the present. We are based at the much improved Coppice, Lanner (the previous owners did nothing for the pub or to support the tennants) who support the Lanner Footall, Rugby and Netball teams and provide excellent food and a newly refurbished bar for pleasure, functions etc.

Went down to watch Threemilestone res (div2) v Constantine res(div4).

Got there just before half time with the score at 2-2 and what I saw was pretty even. Second half constantine conceded a free kick just outside the box, stones took a quick one and scored from it Following this an old head from the away side called the ref a joke and was shown red. From this point on it was one way traffic as the home side piled on the pressure and scored a few good goals and a couple others to finish comfortable 7-2 winners. Ref I thought was pretty reasonable and the crowd 12.

Heard the 1st team were 3-0 down but won 3-4 away at St Buryan. Cracking result

Comical scenes up at Madron today from what I hear. Madron manager taking his team off the pitch during the game due to bad/ biased reffing haha Madron were losing 3-1 to Goonhavern

Trelawny League Full Time site says : Abandoned after 43mins with the score at 1-3

That's why it was abandoned coz the Madron team walked off and refused to play on. So one of their players said to me

Arthur Pearce Cup

Wendron 3rds 1 v Helston 3rds 3

quality performance against our higher team opponents. Was a good game and well reffed....goals from Liam Tanner, Andy Ashton and ben leech. ...buzzing!

Great result against a strong wendron team doing well in div 3, read in the helston packet you lost a few players to the first team to play in the senior cup making it an even better result

Yeah I would agree with you refs although getting paid they give up there time to allow us to play on a Saturday like all players refs make mistakes just like the player that scores an own goal or misses a penalty they don't mean to. Whilst I can say I haven't always agreed with every decision I have seen a ref make I can honestly say I have never seen a ref cheat

Junior Cup

Perranporth 2-1 West Cornwall

When the Perran players are walking off saying they've mugged us there's usually a clue as to how the game went. But Perran took their 2 chances and we took 1 of about 8 or ours, and that's what counts. All the best to Perran in tthe next round and we'll see you next week in the league I believe?!

Plus my captain was unavailable due to work commitments but it gave a couple of 16 year olds the chance and thought we played very well.

Surprised to hear that the madron goonhaven game was abandoned due to poor ref, I for one have found Steve griffin a good strong ref whenever I have seen him in the middle, isn't this the second time this season madron have failed to complete the 90 minutes after a disagreement with the ref ?

We had Him refereeing last week and thought he was one of the best refs we have had this season

We had him few weeks ago and he had the right intentions at the start, although after a bit of pushing he ignored the fact the a player grabbed another an swung a full hayemaker punch into the oppo players back. 10feet infront of the ref. no card shown ..... Yet other challenges less in shock factor were repremanded. No consistency at all.

I have a cure for teams that all walk off the field, First step is to explain that every player who leaves the field get`s a yellow card for leaving the field of play without permission, then any player refusing to return get`s a second yellow for dissent., Has worked to me in the dim distant past, especially when they all realise they are all getting a red card..

Good shout that mr M. Lower leagues footy cant be reffed in the same way as pro so teams get the hump when they are feelin unfairly treated, dont think pulling the team off is sporting though, carding them all would soon stop it

Chacewater Res 1 v 3 Marazion Res

Going into this game with a few missing and playing the unbeaten top team in the division above didn't bode well for us. We started the game well and scored first when Craig Rennard beat the offside trap from a long ball over the top by Danny Taylor, before sliding the ball passed the home keeper. 2-0 on the half hour mark when a freekick was played in by Sanjay Vadgama to the far post. A defender managed to get a toe to it but only diverted the ball straight to Nicky Webber, who with his back to goal, lobbed the keeper. Chacewater did have chances themselves in the first half but mostly from outside the box. 2-0 at half time and I would say we just edged it.

Second half was totally different. Chacewater dominated possession, territory and chances but it was us that scored the all important third goal. A freekick on the edge of the area was curled into the bottom right hand corner by Sanjay, which the keeper could only parry into the back of the net. Almost immediately Chacewater responded when Alex "the chopper" Monahan hacked down their forward in the box and their striker cooly dispatched the penalty. From then on it was all Chacewater with us trying to counter when given the opportunity. We had a scratch back 4 which battled for every ball and a keeper who was having the game of his life. Especially getting a hand to a freekick, which was destined for the bottom corner and tipping it onto the post. Time was ticking away slowly, very slowly but we managed to hold out and progress to the next round.

It's clear to see why Chacewater are top of their league and should get promoted with ease. A strong back four with a decent keeper and a ball playing midfield all comfortable on the ball. The only negative is the striker who felt he was the only one on their side who should shoot. Many times others were in a better scoring position but his greediness got the better of him and he went for glory, much to the frustration of his team mates.

The ref made some strange decisions throughout the game initially against Chacewater in the first half and then us in the second. I dont think he helped himself, screaming at the players when they questioned his wrongly given decisions.

All in all an enjoyable game and happy to go be in the next round.

Gwinear 2 Constantine 1

Cameron Irish with both goals tough game ref was nt brilliant but who cares least we had a game been a few weeks!

The ref at this game was a bloody joke!! Didn't get out of the center circle all game, missed loads of fouls from both sides.didnt give a penalty to Gwinear as was not up with play, and said to there striker I wasn't sure if it was inside or outside the box.Constantine had a goal not given when it was 2yds over the line cos he was still in the center circle. No wonder refs get bad press but he has got to be the worst one I have ever witnessed.

Before I get round to my match report later.. This thread is becoming so tedious already. "The referee did this, the referee did that"
Funny how we very rarely hear of every single mistake each player on each team makes. I suspect if we did, every posting on here would be longer than my match reports.
Everyone of the 23 people on the pitch at any given time will make a mistake. If you don't, you're having the best game of your season, or you're in the wrong division.

We had Phil Cuthbert yesterday, who had a brilliant game, despite having to put up with whingeing from both teams. I spoke to him at the end, and he was thoroughly fed up and couldn't wait to get in his car and go home.

So put yourself in his, or another referee's shoes. Spending 90 minutes in December watching us all play basic standard football, then going home and reading a tirade of abuse about either himself or his colleagues

Stithians 0-3 Camborne athletic (0-0 h/t)

1st neither keeper really had alot to do a couple saves here and there a couple corners to defend as both out field teams battled really well and hard. Was end to end football with both defences doing their clubs proud.

2nd half still the same until athletic made a double change and formation change which changed the whole game. The game was looking to end 0-0 until Steven Williams scored off a Louis goss through in, then matty knurek scored from dave rowe both players working well together Stithians had the chance to get 1 bk with a penalty but Stephen knurek saved it and the following strike after. Before athletic rapped the game up 15 mins from the end with a great headed goal by matty knurek again from a lee ellis cross.

Credit to Stithians they played really well and maybe a draw would have been a fair result for they with the level of effort which they put it.

Great game Stithians great bunch. Would also like to thank the young ref ben not sure of his name for doing it last minute. Hard to believe it was his 1st game. Did really well.

Best of luck to Stithians for the rest of the season.

Totally agree let's give the refs a break they can only give what they see the problem is some players think they are better than they are and think they can act like the over paid superstars of the premier league. We all make mistakes but no one makes mistakes on purpose. I don't agree with teams walking off but having said that I wasn't there so I can't really comment on the madron situation just my feeling in general

Very true Dave, but we always end up talking about the negative postings rather than the positive ones.. and the Referee bashing has been alarming this season, especially given the shortage we find ourselves with.
There's a local referee who has done a lot of Halsetown and St Ives games over the seasons, and he always likes to remind me (usually so I don't say anything bad about him on here!)

Storm Reserves 6-4 Mousehole 3rds (AET) APC

Proper cup game, game could have gone either way, Mousehole 3-2 up with 4 minutes to go against the run of play, Dubious penalty as the player kicked Andy Carroll's hand onto the ball but its one of them things. Some extremely good finishing and goalkeeping from both teams despite the scoreline. If chances had been taken again by both teams it could have been 10-10

Still credit to both teams for going at it for 2 hours **** of the day went to Shane Holland for his extensive use of colourful language. Now if you dont mind im gonna rest this god damn knee up coz e be bleedy urtin!

GL TO STORM!

PS.. Liam Collison scored an absolute belter from 35 yards out on the volley in extra time the ref given it as an own goal, dunno how that works but well done fella we know you scored a belter

PPS. Ref had a reasonable game, Didnt really let the game flow as much as it could have, but then its not my place to tell him how he runs his games Grateful for him reffing in this current shortage

Madron 1 Goonhavern 3

As a Goonhavern committee member lets not blame the referee as according to the copy team sheet they gave our manager THEY gave the referee 90 marks. It was a case of 3 - 1 down, and feared a big score against them, as they were down to their last 11 players so they walked off. Having travelled down from Goonhavern to play 30 minutes football is a joke and I hope the CCFA throw the book at them, as this is not the first time they have done this.

I think the lad who reffed Stithians vs Camborne athletic was Ben Burslem. He was by all accounts very inexperienced with that being his 1st adults game he had reffed but to be fair to the lad and Stithians also agreed he did really well hard to believe it was his 1st match a few questionable decisions but then.... all refs regardless of their levels make them and at junior level u always get players who "knows" the rules better than refs etc but to be fair to ben he did really well and the questionable decisions I spoke of im sure he got right as im not a ref but he is so he knows his stuff. Great lad n will make a great ref.

When you guys have a good ref, you need to make sure you name him. Believe it or not, I do read reports on the Forum that praises up the ref, but they don't mention his name - time to spread the word and make sure you do!

Thats like us mate we have a ref called nigel who helps us and we r very grateful for this. All the ref bashing has to stop. The lad we had done really well. His 1st game and he had complete control over the game. To often the ref was a joke or shocking etc and thats not what this forum is for.

Refs have bad games as well as players, some should admit that they've made a mistake or in hindsight could have done things differently. However, there are some who think they never do anything wrong and you can't talk to them

I know a few players like that too Darren
