Trelawny League results - Saturday, 30th November 2013

Being injured sucks!!!!!! All you lucky buggers out there kicking a ball around at this very moment!!! Hope you won! Watching soccer Saturday and Argyle, Exeter and Torquay are all losing 1-0!! Not great for south west football. Jeff Stelling just said Pringle has put Rotherham 3-0 up with a "crisp" finish!!! Oh my god this is depressing. Gonna limp up and watch the second half of St.Austell v Parkway. Never take football for granted!! :-(

Torquay losing 2-0 now!!!!

Gwinear res 2 Gulval 2

Gwinear should have had this one sealed in the first half but it just wasn't to be. A cheating Gulval linesman hampered play way too often. It was good to hear that that Gulval manager, said that the majority of the 10-15 offside decisions that were made against us were incorrect. Unfortunately his honesty couldn't be rubbed off in the Lino. As soon as he was replaced shortly after half time, there was not one offside. Funny that! Anyway...

Both teams going at it throughout the first half. Gwinear broke the deadlock in under ten minutes with a composed strike from Mikey Catteral. Various chances were made for Gwinear but nothing really went right for us. Shortly after, Gulval made an attack on the right wing only for the ball to strike one of our players arms from point blank range. Whether it was handball or not, I'm not sure as I didn't ask the cb, but a harsh decision was made, penalty taken and goal scored.

In the second half, play continued as it had before. Gwinear dominated but just couldn't hit the back of the net. The stand in keeper made some crucial saves. The Last ten minutes were odd. Our player was taken down in the box, referee blew for a free kick, upon closer inspection, he realised that it was in the area, penalty given. Our CM stepped up to take the penalty... Ref halts play and instead awards a drop ball. Apparently our player tripped. To give a free kick and then penalty and then a drop ball, was odd.

Gwinear chucked everything in for the last ten minutes, we hit the post, had balls cleared off the line and so on and so on. But there was no finish at the end of some creative play.

With 8 minutes to go, the ball was played to the Gwinear striker who controlled the ball on his chest only to be bundled over from behind. Penalty. Another odd decision saw the ref request a retake after it had been converted due to a player in the box (apparently), penalty retaken and converted. 2-2.

Gulval felt hard done by with the second penalty, but the cb clearly pushed the forward to which he subsequently fell over. There was no argument there! Raise your hands, push a player over... Penalty.

Gwinear should have been miles ahead but some wasteful attempts together with a huge amount of bad luck ensured that both teams took a point each away.

Referee for me, couldn't keep up with play (he was quite old) and was very easily swayed when a shout was made. Poor on the day from my point of view, but when there is a shortage of referees and we are lucky to get a game, we must be thankful that we had one at least. Regardless, it was our fault that we didn't put the ball in the net, we can't blame the ref or the dodgy decisions.

The majority of the Gulval squad were extremely gobby, cocky and well, quite arrogant really. Considering they are hovering above the drop zone, it does make you wonder how they have that sort of attitude, but each to their own I suppose. The Manager seemed spot on as did a few others, but some of them just need to have a think about what they say and how they say it!

Div 4

Gwinear Churchtown Reserves 2- 2 Gulval Reserves

Both teams started the game slowly and tentatively tested each others defence during the first 15 mins.

However, due to some sloppy forward play from Gwinear and some great defending by Gulval the score was restricted to 0-0.

Gulval should of took the lead on about 18 mins, but, an own-goal was ruled offside.

Gwinear finally made one of their chances count on about 20 mins (1-0).

Gulval showed great character to get themselves back in to the game after some tidy work by Ben and Jamie, which was tucked away by Jowan to make it 1-1 (ht).

Gwinear threw everything at Gulval for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but, to no avail.

Gulval took the lead after Gwinear's reliable centre back handled the ball in the box which made the score 1-2 (78 mins)

Gwinear's Ashley Young went down in the box under very little contact from the Gulval defender to which the ref at first indicated it may be a penalty, after discussing the incident with his assistant a drop ball was awarded.

With time ticking away, Gwinear's other Ashley Young went down in the box, to which another penalty was awarded (2-2)

Cracking performance by Gulval today, which was exemplified by the skipper, who played 45 mins with a broken hooter.

GMOTM: JP was awesome in goal after Saggy pulled out during the warm-up. John made some vital saves and his distribution was consistent throughout the game.

Onwards and upwards men.

The game was reffed by somebody today, so we should all be happy we had a game and that is all.

Haven't posted after a match before because I tend to find the comments a bit biased and one sided, always blaming the ref etc, or we had a few players missing......

Chacewater came to lanner today and can't argue with the result (2-5). Young ref Sam Mills had a decent game overall, and credit to both teams when a couple of incidents could have put pressure on him. Obviously Chacewater went home happy, look forward to meeting in the league cup, hopefully we will cut out a few of the silly errors that they capitalised on today.

St.Just reserves 0 Frogpool 1

Scorers - James Ribery Reburn.

A good away win amongst an average performance. The first half was played in bright sunshine which created difficult conditions as you could hardly see your team mates. Frogpool had a bit of the ball but everything the created was snuffed out by the St.Just defence. At the other end St.Just had a few chances and with better finishing could of gone one nil up.

One of their corners went straight through the six yard box waiting for a tap in but no one was there.

It was nil nil at half time.

Frogpool had much more of the ball in the second half and started creating chances the goal was scored when Alex Bawden picked the ball up and played a forty yard cross field pass to Ribery Reburn who controlled the ball and run past the St just centre back and beat the keeper who had rushed out of his goal with the outside of his right foot.

From then on Neil Nakata carter held off the St just centre back and played a reverse pass for Reburn to run on to only for his delicate chip to go wide of the post.

Neil Nakata carter could of had three but it wasn't his day as the keeper saved well from one effort.

A few walking wounded today but glad to get the game out of the way as St just had some good players. Special mention to their keeper who was very good.

They will give most teams a good game on their own ground.

Be good to see you back in time for the next round mate. Was a lucky game to be honest, we dominated the first half but hit the self destruct just after half time but were still able to overcome a well organised st keverne side with a brilliant run from the outstanding luke Johnson a minute from time.

Also on a sour note was a bit disappointed that no one from st keverne come to the bar after the game as ray had prepared the famous sausage and chips but it was all much appreciated by the fellas on the bar. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Wendron 3rds 2 Hayle 3rds (I think) 1

Brilliant advert for trelawny 3 football, end to end game with flashes of good football! Number 7 for Hayle was a constant threat throughout the game, creating several chance and generally making a menace of himself! Hayle took the lead through a cross come shot that got directed into his own net by Danny P, Wendron rallied and through a scruffy set piece managed to bundle the ball into the net via young Matty Rogers grabbing his first goal in adult football, half time came with the score one a piece! Second half was much the same with both keepers making saves, dan geach tipping the ball on to the crossbar from a long range effort that looked destined for the net! Wendrons second was a well worked goal that was the culmination of six or seven passes being slotted in from short range! Some interesting decisions made by the referee today but overall he was consistent and kept control of the game which was generally played in good spirit! Either side could of taken the points today and a draw would of been fair but that's another 3 points in the bank so our good run continues! Viva la Dron

No write up when you lose?

I do the write ups for Marazion Res but I was at a wedding yesterday so was unable to do it....none of the others are qualified enough to do it.....when I say qualified, I mean can spell......as for doing a write up when we lose, I do them win, lose or draw (when I'm there) and always give an honest assessment whether we're cr@p or play well.

Will be back for next weeks game.......

Division 1

Halsetown 0 - 2 Camborne School of Mines

After a much needed break last Saturday, we returned to the Wind Farm with an alarming squad of 16 to choose from. Once again, the pitch was in fantastic condition (unlike the showers and lack of the bar being opened for us.. apologies to CSoM for that), and even the wind was blowing at a calm Gale Force 6.
As the scoreline may suggest, this wasn't exactly an end to end battle more accustomed to a Foosball table that we normally see on a Saturday. In truth, the first 20 minutes drifted by as both teams battled out a tug of war in the middle, with Chris "Popeye" Pugh and Binney Jnr going up against an ever changing middle two, as CSoM used the rolling subs like a revolving door.
The first two real chances of the half came pretty much back to back, and at either end. After good work by Marcus "Whisper" Tansey down the right, resulting in a throw in to Halsetown, the ball found it's way to Popeye, who took a touch before sending in a devilish cross that was inch perfect for Chris Goodall. Usually he'd try a reverse over head back heel spinning kick to score from such a position, but shocked all by taking a touch inside the defender, and hitting a crisp drive from 10 yards out with his weaker foot. We all thought goal, especially as the keeper had started to go the wrong way, but stayed up just long enough to make a brilliant save with his legs.
CSoM were playing very neat and tidy football all through the half, and with their average age of 17.3, were starting to find holes in the black and white wall. With the ball just inside their own half, a midfielder played an exquisite 50 yard cross field ball to the winger, who evaded a couple of tackles before sending in a cross which luckily skipped it's way past everyone and everything in the box, and left too much of an acute angle for the striker at the back post, as he hit the side netting.
HT 0-0
After playing the first half into the wind, we figured we'd played the "hard half".. what hadn't been factored into our plans was the sun was now at such a height, it looked like St Just had been nuked.
Just a few minutes into the half, two things became apparent. Firstly, Wayne couldn't see a damn thing in goal, and secondly, we are a team of Narcoleptics, as on 51 minutes and 52 minutes respectively, we fell asleep and CSoM scored two identical goals.
It was almost ironic that after playing 90% of their football on the deck, they should score from balls over the top. To be fair, they were both perfectly weighted, and with our defence snoozing, and Wayne blinded, the CSoM striker had the simple task of twice running straight through the middle onto the ball, and sliding home with ease.
By now we were shell shocked, and as always, bickering like a group of 5 year olds over whose Dad was the biggest. Two nil nearly became three, but for Mr Insanity (who was playing in goal with 12 stitches in a wound on his hand.. which opened up at half time.. properly mental that one), getting down well twice to avert the danger.
The manager decided to throw caution to the wind, opting to go for 3-4-3 and plonking yours truly at centre back. We huffed and puffed, but the CSoM defence were soaking up anything and everything we threw at them, with only a couple of Popeye set pieces drifting narrowly wide and over the only concern caused.
As mentioned before, every single CSoM player made me look like a Granddad, and I'm quite young in our team, and they started to stretch us like Lisa Riley's lycra leggings, in search of more goals. They should have scored two more in quick succession, as a venomous cross-shot came of Mr Insanity's boobs and to a CSoM player standing 4 yards out, but he had a Joe Allen moment and put it wide when easier to score. The next attack left the striker bearing down on goal, and after rounding the goalie, had the whole goal to aim at, but contrived to fire straight at my backside as I scurried back onto the line.
As the game wore down towards the inevitable, both teams were lucky to finish with 11 a side, as the CSoM number 10 decided to launch himself at my ankles both feet first like a Tomahawk missile. Thankfully, I had spotted the challenge and got out of the way, but I wasn't best pleased and said something along the lines of "I say Dear Chap, You came awfully close to causing me a mischief then, I may have to challenge you to a duel of the fists".. all from about 1 inch away from his face.. looking back, the referee Neil Harvey probably did us both a favour in a game that had no other malice in it, and a stern talking to for both players was the right decision.

All in all, a very even game up until we dozed off, and unfortunately, we chose this week as the first week not to score a goal all season,

Stithians up next as the penultimate match before a double header against the next door neighbours over Christmas..

St Erme 5-5 Newbridge Athletic

Kyle Savin 3 James Tregay 2

Elliot Jolly Matt Montgomery

Dan Taylor Craig Helgesen

Darren Dawes

Newbridge started the game very well today and was an improved start on last week. Newbridge were by far the better side for the first half hour and went in front when James Tregay beat 3 defenders and the keeper to put Newbridge into the lead 1-0. We had more chances to double the lead but could not find the net. St Erme hit us on the break but Dan Taylor's effort was well saved by myself turning the ball out for a corner but nothing came from it. Then the game changed, James Tregay stopped with an injury but was ok to carry on and the team had a major lapse in concentration, St Erme made a few changes and then turned the game around in their favour. St Erme won two corners in quick succession and from some poor defending Kyle Savin managed to score from both of them. Elliot Jolly then made it 3-1 when the ball came over the top but I felt it was coming further towards me because of the glaring sun in my face, I came off my line and Elliot battling with Kyle Jones to get the ball stuck out a leg and tucked it in past us both. Then St Erme made it 4-1, an excellent cross from the left wing found Dan Taylor, Craig Banner managed to get a touch to the ball but Dan Taylor got the final touch to turn it in with me not being able to see a thing due to the sun once again in an excellent 10-15 mins for them. Half Time 4-1 to St Erme.

Newbridge started the second half better than we ended the first but went 5-1 down with a good finish but a dubious goal as I was fouled in the build up . St Erme had another corner the cross came in, I went to jump for an easy catch but one of the St Erme players was holding onto my arm, the ball was cleared to the edge of the box but it fell to Kyle Savin who rifled the ball into the top corner for his hat-trick 5-1. The ref gave nothing from the blatant foul and the goal stood. Newbridge never gave up and had a great chance to get a goal back but the ball was blocked in the box with a defenders hand and the ref pointed to the spot, the player lucky to not be sent off. Matt Montgomery put the penalty into the goalkeepers left corner with the goalie going the opposite way. Newbridge continued the pressure on St Erme and from two corners had one cleared off the line from James Tregay's header the second they made it 5-3. Kyle Jones headed the ball over the line but the ref never gave the goal, the St Erme players all stopped knowing that it had crossed the line and Craig Helgesen put the rebound into the back of the net to make sure and then the goal stood. We knew we could get something out of the game if we continued the pressure. Another two corners were cleared off the line with James Tregay's and Kyle Jones's headers with goaline scrambles afterwards but both were cleared. Another chance came for Newbridge, an excellence cross from the left came into the box with right back Darren Dawes(the smallest player in our team) with a strikers header, headed into the back of the net 5-4! St Erme had a great chance to make it 6-4 when a cross came in once again from the left but was going into the top corner, I managed to tip it onto the bar, it then came back hit on coming Elliot Jolly and went wide of the post. Newbridge continued the pressure, Josh Turner through 1 on 1 but managed to put it high and wide. Then came the equaliser another 1 on 1 this time for James Tregay, he took it round the keeper and tucked it into the net for 5-5. We had more chances to win the game but was unable to get the 6th goal. I think St Erme were relieved when the ref blew the whistle to end the game 5-5. We were disappointed not to win the game but delighted to get a point after being 5-1 down. A superb second half performance from all the lads.

Man of the Match: Craig Helgesen, his best game of the season with tireless running and getting himself a deserved goal.

Div 2 Pendeen 5 v 0 Illogan.

Pendeen started the game in great style scoring 3 goals inside the first 20 minutes goals coming from Christian, Josh Mooney and Andrew Annis. Pendeen went on to dominate the rest of the first half with Luke May scoring in the 44th minute to make it 4 - 0 at half time, The second half was a much tighter affair with Illogan coming into the game and working hard but Pendeen's defence held firm and Christian scored again with 10 minutes left to play. Illogan did manage to break Pendeen down with a fierce drive that Sweeney did well to put around the post. Pendeen thoroughly deserved their victory with MOM Luke Gallagher who was outstanding. Good luck to Illogan for the rest of the season.

Prem: Illogan 1 - 1 TMS -: Ryan Stevens (Pen)

Great Game of Football. Gutted to concede with 3 minutes left a great performance from the boys!

Was a cracking game at Oxland park. The top of the table clash found 2x good sides trying to play football with plenty of end to end action without either goal keeper being that tested. 1st half TMS went 1up from a penalty which we had no argument over and then the rest of half was quite even. 2nd half we managed to apply more pressure having a goal disallowed and hitting the post but equally this meant tms broke away a few times to nearly score. Eventually we scored with 3 mins left after a cross into the box wasn't dealt with and then landed near Adam callaway who spectacularly scored with an over head kick!

On the whole I feel a draw was fair even though tms were gutted to concede so late on and they were certainly the best side we have played so far with sam cooper a real handful in the middle and Ryan Stevens up front also. The game had loads of action, big tackles and plenty of passion from both sides which was great to play in.

We always said the trelawney league would take a few years to sort itself out but this is by far the strongest junior league there has been in the 5/6 years I have been it which is great, we have tms, helston, st buryan, holmans I also thought st keverne were a good footballing side as well so all looks good for the future hopefully.

Heavy tackles, pushing shoving. Passionate comments thats football. However to hear from the players that spitting was going on I was horrified. Glad to see that people agree that such an attitude is not acceptable. I must admit i am surprised about the "how we roll" comment!
