kicked out of junior cup?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, unfortunately this is the case. We believed it was a Club competition as suggests the wording on the website.

Being short that week we called on a reserve team player to help with numbers. No malice or any attempt to cheat the player in question was named on the official team sheet.

Just an unfortunate miss understanding.

We were told yesterday that St Minver has appealed the decision, although according to this forum other clubs have been disqualified for committing the same "offence". The Grampound v Millbrook tie scheduled for this weekend has now been postponed awaiting the outcome of the appeal.

The Grampound Res. v St Cleer Res. league match is now back on because the ground is now free but, surprise surprise, there is no ref as the original ref is being sent elsewhere.

Crap rule! Fair enough if it's a senior player dropping to a reserve squad, but a reserve player going the other way seems a bit harsh. Junior football down here is way too political, too many stupid and unintelligent rules.

I have thought about putting a P6 Res team in next season as we have an abundance of players. This rule troubles me in that I would need to give game time to players from the reserves who I may not need to use early in the season just to ensure they are eligible for later in the season if they are needed. This is particuarly harsh in the case of the team from the West who fielded their reserve GK

This rule only applies to the Junior Cup as it is a CCFA rule. If you have two duchy sides, you can play any amount of players in either team in the league.

The player had not played a first team league game, but has been a fixture with the reserves. This was where the rules were breached. We were under the impression it was a Club not a team competition.

I fully understand where you are coming from P6, it can be a juggling act and potentially compromise league games.

The relevant Junior Cup rule is:-

12a. Registration of Players. In ALL Rounds of ALL County Competitions a player shall be a ‘registered and recognised playing member of his Team’. A registered member is one who is registered with the League in which his Team competes in the current season. A recognised playing member is one who has actually played in a recognised League or Cup game for the Team in the current season. Should a player play for more than one Team, or plays for a Team without being properly registered he shall be guilty of misconduct and liable to be dealt with as the Council may determine.

The bit in red is clear enough, but I don't think too many people spotted it before this season!

The junior cup is a joke. How many teams a season get kicked out? Would be interesting to see the stats. And how much revenue have the ccfa made from subsequent fines.

People may say the rules are clear, as above, but it only takes someone to interpret the word 'team' as the same as 'club' and you can get in trouble.

I remember hearing about a team not wanting to enter the junior cup because they couldn't raise a side due to having too many ex senior players from the season before........ But guess what. If you don't enter...... You get fined £50!!

It is a daft rule as it in effect nullifies the point of having a reserve team in Junior football. I cannot understand the logic in punishing sides who have to call players up as they are hardly ringers. The main reason I would go to the hassle of entering a second team is to ensure the first team have the best possible chance in competitions such as the Junior Cup. A few years ago you had to sign Duchy forms and CCFA forms for the Junior cup. We had a second team and therefore ensured EVERY second team player signed the CCFA so they could be used if needed in the Junior Cup.

The thing is in previous years the rules stated club not team. Wherever the word 'team' is now it used to say 'club'. So I think this is where part of the confusion has been. Like AVFC says, there was no attempt to bend the rules or cheat. I think this just highlights that the rules need clarifying regardless of the outcome of the appeal.

This junior cup rule is ridiculas this season! Does it mean that if a player has played for a side in a league cup match does that make him able to play in the junior cup!cause i was lead to believe that you can only play in the junior cup if u have made an apperance in a league match?

Better ruling wud be only players who have played junior football in the current season can compete in the junior cup. If uv played in a senior mate regardless even if its 1 game as a sub then u cant play but if uv bin a junior player all season regardless if ur 1st or reserve side aslong as ur junior
