Falmouth Town relegation ?

Recommended Posts

Would relegation from the SWPL Premier to Div.1 West be a blessing for Falmouth ?

If they manage to avoid the drop I can see another season of struggle at the bottom with again a small budget.

Losing all games at Bickland this season -the last win being in April, 12 games ago and only two wins in the calendar year at Home.

With the debt and uncertainty of a ground it would surely be more easier to rebuild and keep a following with more local games (Penryn-Helston-Mousehole-Penzance-Porthleven-Truro City-Perranporth)

F A Vase application would still be valid at this level and also the odd distance trip to Holsworthy and Wadebridge should make of a more pleasing season.

And of course there would be the traditional "Derby" games over Christmas and Easter.

Whats gone wrong down at falmouth town, big club, nice ground but how has it got so bad on the pitch? Change of management hasnt changed their fortunes, mike odgers has stated 'a small budget' but a place the size of falmouth surely could get some investment from local buisnesses? Besides, clubs like camelford, godolphin, elmore repordidly have small budgets yet they manage to compete. Whats your thoughts mike?

Well if thats correct then some serious mis-spending been going on! £300 is more than adequate at level of football?? Cant imagen the 3 clubs earlier mentioned spend that amount per game & look how many points they have won throughout the season. That works out at nearly £25 a player if spread even throughout the team. Guys like tommy matthews must be cringing at the current state

Need more than just the right man in charge. There are 3/4/5 ex Hayle players, who were average at best in the west league last season. A few call ups from struggling 2nds.

John is an ok manager, who loves a challenge. Boy has he got one!! Budget is what it is, we will never know, but the players there are nothing to shout about, maybe that's down to £££, maybe it's down to attraction to the club/managerial team(s) at Falmouth/current players there.

I don't think Falmouth Town will get relegated, but honestly believe it might be for the best if they did compete in a lower level for a year or so, rebuild and establish themselves once again.

With you on that one Monty, was never in this world a headbutt, bit of rough goes on at nearly every ground in the country between centre forwards and goalkeepers doesn't it? Although newlyneast no10 is the falmouth town managers son so he might of seen something the rest didn't! Does have a point though when he says falmouth should of got a draw that evening, they played well.

Has denty really been given a chance yet only been at town a month or so.Ferguson couldn't change results that quick.the blame must lie with the people who let the second team management go after winning the combo league in favour of Gilbert and Stephens who everyone knew were managers from yesteryear.surely with towns circumstances they should have kept the team together and used it to start the rebuild

We can all look back and be judgemental, Not so long ago, supposedly on nearly three times the above mentioned figure, we were 5th from bottom. Dent needstime t o get players in and time to get the best out of what we have.

As a Club we are indebted to Les And Robbie for all they did. They were prepared to stand up and be counted which they did admirably. They kept the ship afloat when all you critics wrote us off
