St. Mawgan 0 - 0 St. Merryn

North Cornwall rivals St. Mawgan and St. Merryn served up something of a rarity - a goalless duchy league draw - as depleted squads and the swirling breeze resulted in a relatively low-key encounter at Trevarrian.

Despite enjoying the majority of early possession, the visitors could have easily found themselves behind and were fortunate that goalkeeper Ben Humber reacted quickly to force an early strike to be lifted over the crossbar. With experimced defensive duo Kevin Pearce and Jamie Philips enjoying a solid game at the heart of the St. Mawgan defence, St. Merryn had little to show for their possession, with half an hour passing before a perfectly executed half-volley from Antony Murt crashed into the crossbar via the fingertips of the St. Mawgan goalkeeper. When Luke Worrall's resulting corner kick was headed marginally over by Lewis Canfield, there was an air of inevitability that it was going to be a long afternoon for the league leaders.

Yet the first time St. Merryn had managed to get the ball on the deck, a sweeping move frm the left resulted in Murt neatly bypassing his marker in the box to slot a low cross into the path of Josh Dark only for the midfielder's side-footed strike to land straight into the hands of the grateful goalkeeper.

The second half offered more of the same as St. Merryn laboured against the slope and were forced to contend with a series of long balls that occasionally created some discomfort for the visitors. The failure to get ahead in the first half created increasing pressure for St. Merryn as the home side continued to repel sporadic attacks; when another Luke Worrall corner resulted in Mike Shearer rising the highest to head goalwards, the frustration continued as the ball cannoned off the crossbar and was hacked to safety.

Yet it was the home side that could have taken all three points when striker Nathan Allum headed a deep cross straight at Humber from six yards with the goal at his mercy. A series of late corners resulted in a timely intervention from captain Ben Curtis, who reacted quickest to divert a goal bound strike wide of the target to ensure a share of the spoils.

Having conceded nine in the reverse fixture, St. Mawgan were good value for their point following a solid defensive performance.

Man of the match - Calvin Powell

AFC Bodmin 3-0 Boscastle

A good win for Bodmin against a decent boscastle side. Two Well taken goals from Mike Horne before half time set them on their way before Andy Stevens smashed in a third late on. Thank you to the honesty of the boscastle players and manager when the ref was going to disallow the second goal as he wasn't sure if it went in or not!!! Great bunch of lads and good luck for the rest of the season.
