Richard Rundle
Perranwell reserves 0-2 Carharrack Thanks to the heads up on the "games on" thread that this had been switched to Perranwell and was definitely on, I took in this Trelawny League game. It was a solid and unflashy game, with the right outcome as Carharrack had the better of the game and kept the home side to very few chances throughout (although they did play some decent football, one passing move midway through the first half especially had some of the Carharrack following saying that deserved a goal). The two goals were both from long range, the first a seemingly inoccuous shot from the edge of the area which the keeper either misjudged or never saw until it was too late as he watched it roll into the far corner, the second a screamer of a free kick from 25+ yards out which I believe was still on the rise as it hit the net. Fair report Richard, I think Gavin put the keeper in the net with the ball on that free kick it was hit so hard. Perranwell did play some good football, but were just unable to unlock the defence, don't think the carharrack keeper had many saves to make, although Perranwell did hit the bar, with a cross-come-shot. On the balance of play, and chances created was probably a fair result. Thank you to Perranwell for agreeing to the switch, our pitch took a battering last week vs mousehole and the weekend would have sucked without football

Fair play to the Madron lads who were next to bottom at kick off with us not much higher to be honest! We had enough chances to win three games but a combination of poor finishing, great goalkeeping and resolute defending (plus some weird decisions!?) resulted in us struggling. Well done to Els for his hat-trick and taking his total to 15 for the season. As for me it was "one of those days"!!! Only my second game in 10 weeks and i was rustier than Terry Waites pushbike!!! Hit the post twice, bar once, disallowed goal when 5 yards onside, Lino gave Els offside and he was running back towards his own goal away from the play! Two kicked off the line, couple great saves off the keeper and if we didnt get a penalty I would still be there now trying to score!! Shocking!!! If I didn't have 21 goals to go for the 2000th I reckon I might have retired tonight!!! Anyway enough whining from me! Ps) Willsy, hope you had a great day today at your benefit game mate!! Saw what Paul Sturrock said about you and how he was coming down out his own pocket seeing it was you! Legend and a top guy. Wish I was there after my performance today mate! First half we came out very strong and we're 2-0 up after 10 mins then controlled the game storm had one chance on goal which i had to parry away. ht 6-0 second half a bit slower but went on to score another 4 whilst storm had a few chances one needed a decent save and another just needed a better finish for them to grab a goal. Good bunch of lads at storm and do look to have a good team just came to us on one of our better days. special mention for the storm keeper after one of those challenges left there keeper needing attention hope he's okay. whoever stepped in made some good saves! peggy78
Percy Stephens Storm 4 (2) Penryn 3rds 2 (2) Storm Scorers - Osborn, Mitchell (2), Kellow On a heavy, wind-swept Clijah pitch Storm came in to the match on the back of their worst performance for a long time the week before, along with contending with a period of transition. With the wind at our backs, the first 10 mins were fairly even with little in the way of open chances for either side. It wasn't long until debutant keeper, Craig Allen saved well at the feet of Chris Page as he managed to beat the offside flag for and power through one on one, and pulled of an exceptional save to tip around a speculative long range effort that looked as if the wind would drop it just in under the corner. Storm enjoyed some nice possession football but were struggling to create clear cut opportunities. As we looked like we in the ascendancy, Chris Page struck his first of the afternoon. He could have doubled his tally a few minutes later after going down in the area he stepped up to smash the penalty against the post. He buried the rebound but as no other player had touched the ball the goal was correctly disallowed. The introduction of Andy Osborn with 30 gone and a slight change of formation allowed David Mitchell to move to the left and suddenly we created opportunities. Some wicked Annear set piece deliveries in to the box threatened but some nice one touch passing led to Mitchell cutting in from the left and picking Osborn out in the box to slot home. Kellow then laid off a neat one-two into Mitchells path and his curling shot snuck in with about a minute until the end of the half. All set to take the lead into the break, Page again had other plans. A long range punt held up in the wind. It was a freak goal in which the keeper did everything he could. The high ball dropped lower and lower and would have gone in had the keeper not touched it on to the bar. Unfortunately the ball ricocheted off the bar and on to the back of his head and dropped across the line where Page was able to finish unchallenged from all of 1 yard out. There was literally enough time to take the kick off before the half ended all square. The withdrawal of centreback and captain, James Chilman at half time forced another shuffle forming yet another centreback pairing this season of new signing Tom Colllins and "taking one for the team" Sam Charlton. Although we were against the wind we had the better half of the pitch to play football on and we used that to our advantage. Working the ball down the line we looked a threat and it was a Matt Clarkson first-time cross that set up Mitchell to finish his 2nd with a volley at the back post. It was then our turn to be awarded a penalty as the lively Kellow was clipped in the area. For the second time in the match, a spot kick went unconverted. However if Kellow was disappointed with his miss he more than made up for it later. Cutting in from the right, he evaded several attempts to tackle and a couple of reckless attempts at bringing him down to wriggle his way into the area and finish with aplomb. With a two-goal lead, Penryn threw more men forward, but some staunch defending and an increased amount of overhit long balls saw Penryn's chances of getting back into the game snuffed out. It was really pleasing seeing the team pull together after last week and show the heart and determination thats needed as well as a decent footballing display. bluenose
Marazion Res 3-1 Gwinear Res We predicted a hard game before kick off and that's exactly what we got. Having played Gwinear twice last year we had two really well fought games which could have gone either way. Gwinear started the brightest and put us under a lot of pressure. A new back four for us and we need a bit of time to sort ourselves out initially. Gwinear took a deserved lead after about 15mins when we failed to react with a quick throw and when the ball was cross into the middle Nicky Troon was unmarked to score past the keeper. After that we got more into the game and started causing the Gwinear back line problems with the movement and pace up front. after about 30 mins Matty Thomas collected the ball from a throw just inside the box, turned his defender, beat another and then fired past the keeper, catching the inside of the post. A few half chances for both sides after that but 1-1 at half time was probably a fair reflection of the half. The first period of the second half was all Marazion and it wasn't long before we took the lead, when Matty chested a throw into the path of Craig Rennard who played in Jason O'Sullivan. His cross was met by Craig who had continued his run into the box and he cooly slotted past the keeper with the outside of his foot. A reaaly well worked team goal. The third came midway through the half when Sanjay Vadgama cross deep from the left hand side to the far post and Jason (the smallest man on the pitch) rose like a salmon to head down past the keeper. The rest of the half saw us sit back trying to soak up the pressure that Gwinear were putting us under. We kept them at bay until the last few minutes when their striker turned in the box but fired straight at Ali Birch in goal. Had that gone in then the last few minutes would have been tense. A good, hard 3 points won against one of the strongest teams in the league who no doubt will be battling for promotion at the end of the season. Good couple of debuts from Nicky and Jamie who have strengthened the squad to one that can now push for promotion. The game well reffed with only a few little moans as you would expect at this level. Ali Birch Tom Williams Jamie Wilkes Danny Taylor Adam Martin Steve Hunt Nick Webber Sanjay Vadgama Craig Rennard 1 Jason O'Sullivan 1 Matty Thomas 1 MOM : Tom Williams - Battled well and caused problems when ventured forward

MoodyWisp
Mousehole 3rd 6-0 Gulval Reserves In the last league meeting for another season between these two teams, It was a lot more one sided affair than the game down at Penzance cricket club for a start Gulval's poor form leading into the game i think may have upset the apple-cart somewhat and from what i have heard there's been a lot of off the pitch goings on at the club, which isn't my place to go into, That said Gulval being the fierce rivals they are with Mousehole due to personnel issues turned up in-force with a total of 17 players, of which unfortunately two had to sit out the game, Mousehole again with a large squad of 15 even with a couple of injury's a debut Ezra and young starlet Tom Pascoe. The game and I'm not being harsh was dominated from start to finish by Mousehole, some early chances came and went it should have been 3-0 to the home team within 15 minutes but some dodgy linesman clearly either cheating or clueless flagged for at least 2 one on ones. Eventually the ref asked him to pass his flag over and the game from hence forth was well Lined by the new Gulval man. The first goal was scored pretty early on Tom Hooper scoring a powerful shot with his weak foot from around 15 yards out which creeped in off the left peg Our striker Alex having spent the last 4 weeks out with injury thought he would come back for this important game, and as mentioned before his 2 one on ones were ruled out for offside he then came off pulling up, respect his effort for trying to come back and playing with an injury and i hope by further injuring himself now he isn't out for to long but the prognosis probably isn't going to be good. Old warhorse Ezra then came on for his debut and instantly making an impression he held up the ball fantastically even darting in and out of the Gulval defense turning players, out playing the defense and generally making himself a nuisance, he almost got a reward for his fine play in the first 5 minutes, but poor Liam's new boots failed him and he missed the entire ball from 2 yards out and the chance to go 2-0 up went begging. 8 minutes later and Ezra got of to a scoring start, with a neat turn inside rounding a player he fired the ball into the bottom corner across the goal from all of 22 yards an absolute belter. that was all that really happened in the first half there were a few other half chances that could have put the game to bed, the Mousehole keeper on the other hand took up a little knitting and had finished a full square foot of it by half time. Early into the second half and it was Mousehole on the front foot again a tame shot from Ezra at an impossible angle was parried into this own net by the keeper and again a goal within a couple of minutes which the keeper spilled twice and finally put into his own net by what looked like his own flailing legs, it was a scramble which i didn't see to clearly. By then it was a case of by how many, as the rain started and the win picked up, Greg Olds finally got on the score sheet with arguably his hardest of his 312 attempts on goal. a sweetly struck shot from 18 yards out on his week foot as he was falling. knowing our goal difference was poor due to remarkably poor scorelines against the like to Helston and West Cornwall we knew this was a chance to get back into positive numbers unfortunately in the last 20 minutes we could only manage one more as rotation of players meant a stop start end to the game, with Jack Robinson coming on the pitch for a corner and subsequently scoring with his first touch, his goal celebration earning him a fine. Gulval rallied as the subs came on and off, but only resulting in a couple of very tame efforts, Captain Steve Bell out jumping there tallest player to a win a header that surly would have gone in if he had missed it... a game that to be fair for the hype between the 2 teams was well fought but not in a malicious way, one of the young Gulval players going off with what i hear a broken nose after a 50/50 Ariel challenge We hope he lad gets back to football asap from all at Mousehole ) Ezra i think got a little carried away and went in with what looked like a little reckless challenge defused very well by the ref, great performance by our left back Liam Collinson, sublime performance and kept the Gulval target man who's name i don't know at bay with lovely tackling heading and smart football definitely man of the match, for Mousehole we move up into 6th in the league, if we hadn't have missed out on an unregistered player at the start of the season and gifted 3 points to Newlyn we would be arguably up there in the hunt for promotion in 4th, Two games coming up now, the biggest of my personal footballing life against Title favorites Marazion first in the league cup and then the league in itself, sure to be worth a watch down at the Coombe and then at there place.. All the best to Gulval and good luck for the season
chickennugget
RNAS Culdrose 3 - 2 St. Buryan 0-0 for about 25 minutes. Culdrose scored the first with a good team goal, got the second when their striker volleyed in from a free kick delivery, the third when their striker lobbed the keeper when through one on one. 3-0 at half time. Culdrose looked shaky at the beginning of the second half leading to St. Buryan scoring early on. Visitors seemed content to smash the ball long hoping that the wind would do the work for them. They never really looked like scoring again until the home keeper mis-hit a goal kick gifting St Buryan their second. Nervous last 10 minutes but the home defence held on whilst still pushing forward and creating chances for themselves.

the waterboy
No it's the 3rds in the cup. It's myself CB is talking about, I damaged tendons in my ankle in pre season and haven't played at all this season so have been helping out running the 3rds or 4ths depending who is at home while Jim Hilton does everything else. To be fair to Camborne 5 players from the clubs under 16 teams have turned 16 in the last few weeks who where in the squad and I think at least three made their debut on Saturday and they made a huge difference to the team. Should have probably scored a couple more and missed a penalty, although justice was done because I was in agreement with cb_fc and his linesman that our player was offside when he went through on goal. The 4ths only have had one player over 18 in team (old man Pete in goal) so it's great to see more kids coming through to add to a very young third team and a seconds that have more teenagers than adults. Again thanks to Paul for coming to ref our game and see you next week cb

Again thanks to Paul for coming to ref our game and see you next week cb Yeah u understood what I ment lol scott come u look silly now mate lol. Yeah Newquay 4th r a very tidy side in they all stay together can def contend against much higher oppositions. Anyway waterboy c u Saturday again mate. 2pm k.off this time. Cheers dave.
