PLAY SOME GAMES ON SUNDAY!!!!!! Twice the games and refs!!!!!!! It isn't hard and hasn't even been tried yet!? And before you say 'that'll be Sunday league and I want to play Saturdays' ......if your really that keen to play then you'd play sat or sun until things pick up!!!!

No sarcasm intended! I think it's a very good idea! The only argument against, which is always going to be an issue unfortunately, is players playing for a 1st team on a Saturday and then a reserve team in a Sunday! I know rules are in place to stop this but it will be harder to police! The idea should definitely be looked into though!

Rubbish, there's plenty out there who are willing to do both sat and sun, and lots that don't currently do sun but would do to help get through the fixtures, even if you only have x2 refs say yes....that's x2 more games than not even trying!!!!! The 'can do' attitude in some people is near non existence and until the question has been actually asked to refs and clubs the negativity will continue!!! This is a simple solution so what's the harm in trying it instead of knocking it?? There's a hell of a lot 'ifs' and 'buts' from B manning and Cornish ref but why don't you just embrace it and encourage the county to have a go instead of being so negative all the time!!

Well pointers I for one will not be doing it, if I wanted to referee on Sunday`s i would already be doing it. Call it negative if you like but it`s fact.as far as I am concerned. We all know the cause so why should I go out and get a second helping of abuse the remedy is already in your and others hands.

Once again Ref bashing now because of lack of commitment ???

Well I for one would like to say for the record, "what a load of old poppycock" . I for one don't referee Sunday's due to the fact I referee Saturday's and numerous times during the week helping out colleges and school games and for myself personally Sunday is family time.

I refereed Friday night and for one reason or another my game Saturday at Bideford was postponed due to them being involved in the FA trophy on Sunday so I made myself available to the appointments officer at about 10am and didn't really care were he sent me? There was only a few games available and with a bit of juggling as Mr Murphy does superbly I was waiting for a answer from Mousehole 3rds to see if sending me from Falmouth to Coombe too referee there game vs Constantine res was acceptable, the answer was the pitch is waterlogged and they where not happy about paying my expenses. After a bit more juggling from Mr Murphy who himself has to officiate appointed me to Falmouth Town 3rds vs Newlyn lions, even after discussions with Town management I accepted a 3pm KO due to Newlyn travelling and rounding players up only to be told match off due to Newlyn unable to raise a side!!!!

So I as a level 4 sat at home at 13:54 on a Saturday afternoon willing to referee anywhere have no game, and I have to listen to the moaning of teams saying about shortage of referees when in fact these teams are too eager to call games off too quickly need to take a lot of the responsibility. There are a lot of referees who officiate outside of Cornwall and so the chances are that games could and will be called off due the weather difference, so please wait as long as possible before cancelling games because you may never know?

Monty I think your missing my main point here, it's the fact that games are mainly being postponed due to no ref, when there are atleast a handful out there who'd be willing to play on Sundays and also a handful of refs willing to also do Sundays, lets get those games fixtured and get some extra games played!!!! No brainer!!!!!

I believe it would cause a whole lot of problems - as a qualified referee who has recently taken a sabatical to manage my local side, I feel qualified to comment.

From a referee's point of view those who wish to officiate on a Sunday already do but many do have families etc - you seem to forget that many referees (not all admittedly) are ex-players who are trying to give something back and are likely of an age when 'family' time is required or divorce may be looming!

My main concern from a managerial point of view is the problem that often occurs at the end of a season when many first teamers turn out for their reserve teams and when we're talking both teams being in junior football and within same leagues (for example we have two teams Duchy 1 & 4) there is no rule to prevent someone playing for both teams which I personally believe to be morally questionable. I have also seen this occur when towards the end of the season double-headers are played on the same pitch where the 1st team have played first and then half of them turn out for there reserves!

I would however like to say that 'Pointers' is at least thinking outside of the box and although I do not think this is the solution, I do welcome someone bothering to voice some positive ideas.
