Holmans sc 3 vs mousehole reserves 1

on a extremely windy day, holmans entertained a moushole side in which we drew with a couple weeks ago in the league.

Holmans started the game the brightest kicking with the wind behind us towards the cricket scoreboard end. From the start holmans looked like they wanted it a bit more but lacked a certain creative edge with everyone over hitting every pass, and every through ball actually finding a player that player mysteriously being flagged offside. After half hour of being organised and picking up the right men, holmans found themselves making a serious of mistakes leading to opening goal for mousehole, first the ball got played in between the defence and midfield causing a defender to be dragged out then the ball got played to a attacker who took it past Chris at left back and then done a wobble of the legs to make Jason confuse himself and lose his footing and fall over before luring me out to pass it across goal for what should of been an easy finish but my cat like reflexes managed to save the first shot but when the to holmans defenders left it to each other it fell back to the player who cooly put it in the back of the net just inside the far post.

Needless to say holmans then went through a bit of a wobble for 5 mins, but having survived that holmans got that bit of luck when the mousehole player thought he could play the ball back to his keeper from the halfway line, luke Johnson opened his legs and was able to get there the same time as the keeper but his determination in the challenge won the ball and was able to run the ball in the net to make it 1-1.

After that holmans had the hunger back and could of been ahead sooner if it was not for a potential miss of the season after shane squared it across the 6 yard box for tarik to launch the ball over the bar towards the rugby club. Holmans carried on pressing and with 5 mins before the break holmans took the lead through a jasoon blight kung fu flick of the ball into the far corner from a well weighted delivery of Simon lavis making the score 2-1 to holmans and thats how it stayed until half time.

Second half holmans were kicking against the wind towards the train track end, mousehole tried to play there football but playing against the wind played to holmans strengths of being able to control the passing amongst each other. For the impressive start to the half holmans thought they had scored to make it 3-1 but that flag went up as soon as the defenders appealed for it.

Mousehole never really got going when they had the wind as everything become over hit as we found out in the first half.

Around the 60th Minute luke Johnson created a brilliant opening for himself only to see it be pushed round the post by the keeper. Holmans continued to pressure but become very wasteful with the chances and had to wait until the 75th minute to secure the win when Adam selley cooly shot past the mousehole keeper from the edge of the area making 3-1 to holmans. Mousehole in all fairness to them tried pushing to find an equalizer but the Holmans defence kept them at bay meaning that the game finished 3-1 to Holmans.

Good luck to mousehole for the rest of the season from everyone at Holmans football club.

Chacewater 0-1 trevenson well deserved win for trevenson battled hard chacewater had the chances but didn't take any typical really the club was embarrassed with a player by the looks of it getting I believe a double red card which to be fair as an onlooker was imminant the player in hand just lost controlled of tackles and decided lunging was the best form which he paid the price for with a red after a yellow but then was shown another after insulting and directing abuse at the referee poor really? But in all a good battling game to watch just a shame it ended like that good luck to trevenson in the next round good set of lads

Russell Hall cup

Hayle 3rds 2-4 ruan minor (2-2 FT)

Ruan rocked up with bare 11 and an eventual 12th man, but each player really brought it and played very well. Really windy at hayle for a change but each team made the most of the wind in the half that benefitted them. 2-1 ht 2-2 ft two more ruan goals in each half of extra time.

Mom for ruan was number 5 Grindley, i know this lad an hands down had an excellent match in centre mid, really pulled the team together every touch and vision was exemplary. He did score but a toe punt from 5yrds was not worth the mention. Ritchie ward class as always playin upfront.

Good to see all ruan stayed for drinks an food good luck inthe cup and we'll see u in a few wks in the league.

This game was what junior football is all about. Two teams going at each other with play swinging end to end,a few fouls but nothing malicious, goals, missed chances, goalmouth scrambles and all shaking hands at the end.

Well done both sets of players.

Division 2 league cup

St buryan res 3-4 penryn afc

Great result for us today, nice pitch and setup down st buryan. Tbh 4-3 flattered the home side with our keeper Steve Prynn gifting them 2 of there goals one being a Paul Robinson moment. Back four were superb today. Martin McGhee at the age of 51 controlling things in the middle, he's probably the best 51 year old playing football in cornwall. Best of luck to st buryan for the rest of the season.

DIV 5

ST.ERME (3) 7 Rapsey 20,77,89 Mitchell 6, Jolly 38, Hill 59, Penrose 84,

CAMB.ATH (1) 1 26,

Nice to be back playing after nearly 9 weeks out injured with torn knee ligaments!! Nice to see Dave and the Camborne lads after our two cracking sporting games last season and it was once again an easy one for the ref, don't remember one bad tackle all game to be honest! The scoreline was a bit harsh on Athletic in the end as at 2-1 they were all over us for about 15 minutes with the wind and slope and had numerous chances and also hit the bar! Els restored our two goal lead with a power header just before half time and the killer blow was Dave Hills wind assisted volley from just inside his own half sending the ball back over the keepers head from his own clearance! Tony Penrose scored with a lovely chip off the far post as well to wrap up the game late on to end our run of 5 defeats in a row!! Good win but a bit flattering and hard on the Camborne lads.

Ps) Willsy if you're reading this I hope you got your feet up resting that injury mate!? Not many of us on here have scored 2 goals at Wembley bud!!! :-)

PREMIER DIVISION

Mawnan 1-1 Perranwell (HT 1-0)

Happy to come away from this with a point in the end. A swirling wind made it a scrappy first half. Mawnan took the lead after 30 minutes, but Perranwell had opportunties to score, with the Mawnan defence and keeper playing well to hold onto the lead.

IN the second half Perranwell pressed on looking for the equaliser, with Mawnan creating chances on the break. Mawnan looked like they were going to hold out, but then Perranwell scored with about 15-20 left, and after that looked the most likely to score but didnt really create any more chances.

Perranwell a stornger side than we played earlier in the season .

Division 2

Redruth utd 5 Trispen 3

We finally managed to get a decent squad together. Dominating the game for long periods. 5 - 1 up then decided to give everyone a run out and let trispen back into it with 10 to go.

Redruth Goals

Ben Harris 2

Nicky Adams

Aaron Minall

Rob Bevington.

Good bunch at trispen and fair play to there lad who took a horror tack from Greg Wills only to jump straight up and get on with it rather than rolling around trying to get the player sent off (willser isn't as quick as he thinks he is)

newlyn non athletico res 3 v Helston 3 rds. 1

bad day at the office. Lesson learnt about playing a game without an official ref. Having said that thats no excuse for losing. ..has enough chances to win the game by a romp..but dont think we would have scored again if we were still there now. Too many errors all over the pitch some woeful finishing and lack of ideas. Fair play to newlyn and thanks for the the hospitality after

Mabe 10 - 2 Newquay 4ths

With the wind playing a big part in the game 1st half Newquay used this to there advantage which made it fairly even chances wise we just managed to covert our chances including a superb individual goal from timmy taking it past a few player's there curling it in the back post from 25 yards out whereas Newquay could only convert one to make it 4-1 at the break

Second half wind died down a bit but we were alot better played good football controlled the game from there we went on to convert more chances to secure the win Newquay did score a second from a deflected free kick which had a hint of offside... all in good game ref was consistent just a shame none of the Newquay lot came back to pub never mind more food for us lol

I guess you mean that the lesson learned is that next time you have no official ref, you will not play? Thing is, we are all going to have to come to terms that there is a shortage of refs. Not playing games will not help.

Div 3

Cury 3-1 mawnan res

Good team performance today against the makings of a decent mawnan team (can't see them staying bottom for to long) with 5 players missing through one reason or another we had to re-shuffle the pack. Everyone worked really hard for the team, although I thought we dominated with the ball it was a game of very few chances 2 well taken goals and an own goal gave cury the win. Good luck to mawnan for rest of the season and thanks for all coming back after for a beer and food.

we played down newlyn without a fixtured ref wasnt to bad to be honest mangle done a good job reffing 2nd half. although every game is different and some games will always throw up debatable decisions and player arguements just crack on with it its div 4 football unless its a title/promotion decider or relegation 6pointer we should all try and encourage teams to get a ref on the field can always walk off if it gets out of order and the game will be rearranged anyway,

I think it's pretty bad form to agree to a game with a stand-in Referee and then to walk off if it's not going your way in the expectation of a rearrangement and a second bite of the cherry! Once a decision is made, both teams should stick to it. If the guy's not up to the job it will soon get 'round and teams will either agree someone else or await the real McCoy, which (if what is reported on another thread is true, that NOBODY has applied yet for the cut-price referees course) could be a very long wait!

Neither team (Newlyn or Helston) showered themselves in glory yesterday, especially considering the lack of a proper official. But credit to both sets of players I guess as the afternoon did not degenerate into a full scale scrap. As El Niño says, there will always be debatable decisions, and as players we all call for every decision, never making it easy for whoever the official is. We played Marazion 2 weeks ago, no ref fixtured, we agreed to let their guy do it. Did a good job. We are going to have to get used to it I think.

SENNEN 1 ST IVES RES 5, CUP

SCORERS; JOHN MC WILLIAMS 2,

MARC ALLEN 1

ED WILKES 1

DAN BAGSHAW 1

As can be expected with a well publicised storm on the way conditions were difficult,

so was a relief to be 2-0 up inside 10 minutes, I dont want to sound patronising here

but sennen who have had a few heavy defeats could easily have folded at this stage

but they infact kept going for full 90 mins and played some good football at times, and

for a while when they pulled it back to 1-4 looked like scoring again, all in all

pleasing result into the next round, good luck too sennen rest of season.

Marazion 2-1 Lanner

Game of two halfs. Marazion dominated the first half with Nathan Burt scoring 2 penalties. Lanner came out firing in the second half put Marazion on the back foot before scoring from 6 yards. Pitch wasnt the best at Lanner and the referee was awful. Lanner keeper being last man took out nathan burt ref played on. Lanner defender wiped out Marazion winger ref played on. Deliberate Lanner hand ball in area not even a booking. Yet 3 Marazion players booked straight away for one foul each. Even the Lanner subs couldn't understand how the keeper didnt walk but nevermind a good win for Marazion missing several regular players. Lanner good bunch of lads and thanks for the food after. Good luck for the season lanner!!

Christ after reading all this no wonder there is a shortage of referees in the trelawny league. Even if you wasn't a referee and was asked then why would you, not a really great advertisement for the league and trying to recruit referee's. Now I can see why things are so bad, jesus its only football.

just a thought for you poor hard done by teams/players etc, way back when Sunday League was not sanctioned so referee`s were not available at all, we played without a referee( no not even a standin) If you wanted to play then that was what it was, so just for a moment ponder how you would cope in that situation.

Trelawny 2

Mullion 0 Storm 0

With the four horsemen of the apocalypse due to unleash their collective fury upon the fair folks of Cornwall you could forgive me for being less than enticed with the prospect of visiting the sheltered haven that is Clifden Parc. The e-mail that arrived late Friday evening to alert me to the fact that our referee was now some chap apparently with the initials TBA could have given rise to thoughts to saying " If this TBA bloke doesn't show then we could rearrange the game" or "Screw this for a game of soldiers" (The rapidly thinning squad was another worry).

However step forth the Mullion chairman, Chris Rosevear, who said he would ref the game should one not be appointed by the league. With ludicrous demands of "letting the game flow" and "just enjoying the game" he strode forth to the centre circle to take charge of proceedings. What followed was an even first half, with the swirling wind taking it's toll on the quality of some of the crosses, both keepers tested from range, with Adam Lockwood saving well at full stretch to deny a Mullion effort.

The second half saw Storm have the better of possession and chances but some staunch defending and some wasteful finishing saw the neighbouring houses in more danger than the Mullion keeper. The closest to breaking the deadlock was a Mullion winger who crossed into the box which was caught by the wind and nearly caught out Lockwood at his near post but he pulled of a cracking save low to his right.

Thats about it for highlights as a rare 0-0 bore draw in Trelawny league football. Have to say Mr Rosevear did a sterling job of running the game. Good luck to Mullion for the rest of the season.
